91Protege

Well as Turpo said in the other intake thread, you can use a 90-93 Accord intake for the Protege. It takes a few mods but it looks 100x better then the kit that is made for the Protege.
This is the kit that is for the Protege and is where I started from.

As you can see it has that wierd 90* elbow, and it took me a bit to get it not to hit the master cylinder.
This is what came with my accord kit.

Test fitting some of the peices

The peice was too long and the MAF was right up agenst the inner fender and no room for the filter. So I cut it in the middle and then put the filter on the MAF and put it where I wanted it to sit. I had to cut both peices down so it would be where I wanted.

I wanted to put the filter down in the inner fenderwell but the one that comes with the kit wouldnt fit, and the only 1 I had that did fit was from my Mustang and was like 4" pipe vs 2 or whatever this one is.

So after trying to get the filter down there and that wouldnt work I went back to the way I had it test fitted. So I got everything losely clamped and put the bends right and whatnot.

I then made a hanger to keep it from flopping.

So here is where it got complicated. The Accord intake has 2 nipples on the bottom of the tube for vac lines. I needed 1 of the 2, and a big 1 for the IAC hose to go into the tube. So I cut the 1 small 1 off and grinded it flush with the pipe and used RTV to seal the hole. Then I marked where i wanted the big line to go and drilled the hole, I had a 90* elbow that screwed into the pipe for the 3/8 heater hose I used, and i sealed it with RTV as well. Here is how that came out, I should have put the bigger hole in a different spot so it wasnt in the way of the smaller vac port.

I do plan to get the right filter to fit into the fenderwell and use the other pipe from the accord kit.
Any questions just ask.
