I'm in the market for wheel locks and have came across different types of lug nuts. There's flat, conical and something else, I don't remember. Anyhow I currently have my stock lug nuts on RX-8 rims and would like to add wheel locks.
What type of lug nuts do we have?

I got OEM ones and quite happy with them. I used to have the black McGard Splinedrives, but they cost ~$100 for all 20 - including the locking ones. So I ha two splinedrive keys. The Mazda OEM ones can be had all day on eBay for under $15 shipped from one seller.

The MS3 uses 12 x 1.5 conical seat lug nuts

So the stock MS3 rims use conical, but does the RX-8 rims also use it?
Yes, the RX-8 wheels have conical seats. The two cars use the same lugs.

Cool, thanks Kain.

FYI, the OEM Mazda lock lugs are just rebranded McGards.

One more question Kain, are conicals also named "Acorn" or "Tapered"?

Yup - as are some other OEM wheel locks. The Splinedrives from McGard were definitely nicer though.
Acorn are what the Mazda ones are, IIRC.
Conical/tapered refers to the seat of the lug nut. Acorn is the shape of the lug nut itself.
