Did you ever notice the EEC-V stamped on these ecus?
The tools to read and dump EEC (ford) ecus are cheap. Its nothing magical im just surprised no one on here though about it. My step bro has just about everything from his turbo stang to read these, dump the rom and copy them. The chip its self is cheap too.
Now tuning will be and issue. Once dumped we can compare tables to find the fuel and spark maps but other then that without the table maping its hard to do much else.

It's been thought of many times, i dont nkow how many threads or people there have been claimnig to clone the MP3 ECU and it still hasn't happened.
And the MP3's been out since, what, 01? 02? 8 years later and still no clones
So, free bump for a legit MP3 ECU!

What kind of performance gains would a regular 2.0L 2001 Pro like mine see with this ECU? I used to have a MSP but since I went N/A, it's like driving a slug running through a salt field! *grin*

It won't be any OMFG THIS IS AMAZING gains, but, it will give you a smoother power band and advanced timing requiring you to run 91 oct.
The MP3 also has a VTCS'less intake manifold, so, for the most gain, remove your VTCS and you'll be golden
As these cars go, each mod is another peice to the puzzle
This is a VERY good peice to have.
I just uninstalled mine, car went from wanting to pull up through 6k rpm , now, with stock it struggles to make it to 5k now
This is def. one of the better mods you can do.

02-24-2009, 04:33 PM
Agreed the #1 benifit is the timing advance.

2nd that.. mine woke up the upper end the powerband, before taking the car over 6k felt like i was doing something wrong, forcing the motor to do what it clearly dosnt feel like doing.. with the MP3 ecu, the motor makes power beond 6k and beckons you to turn the rpm, making the car MUCH more fun to drive, which is the name of the game..the MP3 model i think was to make 140 hp vs the standard 130 hp.. plus with the more mods you have the more it helps..
bump for a great item to have.

Remember though, that the MP3 also had teh VTCS'less intake manifold
so, ECU alone won't net you that 10-12 hp

Thanks for answer all the questions guys. This the best mod for NA beside turbocharging.

only the axle back
midpipe and resonator to the axleback is the same on MP3 and Pro5, only difference is the dual catted midpipe on the MSP

And thats only to make up for the placement of the precat.
I have that axel back on my car now, no difference in power but it does sound sexy.

it's too bad that you can't switch out the ecu's regularly. like, put in the MP3 ecu for the weekend or autox, and then the stocker for the dd. if you could do that I would probably buy this.
oem plus
02-27-2009, 02:14 PM
I has MP3 ecu too! If you get it just leave it in there. There is not enough power difference to keep swapping it in and out. You can tell you have a smoother power curve and more RPM's to play with. If your worried about the 93 vs 87 dollar difference (with 10g of gas there is only $2 difference), think about how many times you upsized your value meals at mcdonald's...LOL.

oh I didn't see that post till just right now.
I don't know....I'm trying to cut back and I don't think I can justify spending 300 bucks. Trying to get a better price. also, I was thinking about this:
right now, gas is pretty cheap. getting this ecu wouldn't be that much of a drain. last summer gas was 4 times as expensive. Is it possible to go back to my stock ecu if that were to happen?
br289165
03-02-2009, 02:33 AM
Of course you can switch back, but u don't need to, you can run 87 octane with the MP3 ECU, it adjusts for the lower octane. But I must say gas was 2x the cost last summer, not 4x.

well here it was from 1.60 to around 4.85. but you're right, prior to that, it would have been 2 some. I'm really interested, but I just want to make sure that i won't do damage by switching to regular every now and then. because that would suck
mx-p5
03-02-2009, 02:05 PM
Nope, no damage in swapping, unless you don't wear gloves when you pull the metal plate out the ECU is on. If you don't, YOU will be damaged

for me to run 93, its 20cents a gallon more.. thats $2.50 more that reg fuel per full up.. i fill once a week..so about $10 a month
also you MPG will increase with the high oct fuel (if) your running the MP3 ecu.. mine did for sure,, it want much, but, it helped ,so really i pay about five buck more a month to have more power.. and my smiles per gallon are way up as well..lol

Yeah monies must be tight
Understatement if ever there was one. I've wanted this ECU for pretty good while now. And here with the opportunity, I'm hesitant. I'm looking to another mod cheaper than this one hopefully that goes through and allows me to look away from this one. If not, I'll probably be back here. sigh
