Looking At Buying A Tmic Soon. I Know I Keep Reading About How Fmic Are Better But I Just Can't See Me Fighting With The Dealer On Why I Did It And I Want Something I Can Take Off In Case I Ever Have To Visit The Dealer. So I Am Looking At Su Tmic And The Ets Tmic. Has Anyone Heard What The Difference Is Or Which One I Should Go With? Also Would You Recommend Getting The High Performance Silicone Boost Tubes With It? Thanks For The Help

Well as far as the boost tubes go, they are thin and rather flimsy, but they made the install a lil easier since they were easier manipulated. for stock boost i'd say spend your duckets else where. they'll work fine.

i dont know what the difference is but the ets one works. its well made and i could feel a seat of pants difference.

I hear you with the FMIC. It is better but definately dont take it to the dealer with it installed. If your willing to put in a few hours to install / remove it that its worth it.

As for the TMIC. ETS and SU are both equal in performance. The SU however is 35 bucks more but it is put together a little cleaner. The welds / finish are higher quality. The way I saw it was, im already paying 565 bucks for an IC might as well get the better built one for 35 bucks more. The ETS doesn't look "bad" but the SU is clearly higher quality.

The boost tubes aren't really worth the 65 bucks or whatever they charge. The stockers work just fine.

plus you get the stealth-e-ness of the tmic.

i like the whole effort mazda put into the tmic having its own air duct built into the hood, all the tmic available fit into the housing. also tmic LOOKS so much better than FMIC its right there for your eyes to glisten upon, instead of the baby rectangle you get to see through the bumper mesh on the FMIC. and even more so, what happens if you get into a small accident? i was in a head on with my MS6 but NONE of the engine components under the hood were damaged at all, it was only cosmetic (and not my fault lol) but if you have a fmic, the slightest accident with destroy a lot of expensive stuff becuase of the tight fit up front. its a pretty big variable, but i like working with the space given to me. also theres a little less turbo lag from a top mount, and the overall look of the car is kept clean. also i think the disi looks pretty ugly without a paintjob, dress up kit, headers, and manifold to go along with it. the only good looking FMIC is the corksport IMO, becuase they use the top mount air duct and turn it into a ram air intake. everything looks really good with that setup.

I think he means the air vents attached to our hood to force air on the tmic

i was looking at those today, wondering if it would be any good to attach a plate from the top part of the grille to the bottom of the ducts.
theres a space between the two, i'm sure the air could be directed a lil better but i'm also sure that mazda can engineer things better than i.

I thought the purpose of that lump was just to fit the IC.

(werd) It is really a pretty cool job of engineering mazda did, simple and effective.

does anyone have a pic of the SU TMIC installed on their Speed6 with the supplied intercooler cover/shroud attached?

Their L-to-A IC TMIC is nice, but it's also the same price (or more) than the FMIC and definitely not removeable.

Are you referring to the stock shroud? If so, that doesn't fit on an aftermarket TMIC.

One thing to say about the OEM hood scoop/cooling, it does work. My BAT's at a stop light will rise, then immediately cool down and settle once I get going. I was surprised how well it works. Just hope not to get caught in stop-and-go traffic.

There is a GB for the Turbine Tech right under a grand. Cheaper than any FMIC.

Yes, but MSRP is $1200. Originally it was only gonna be $800, but they redesigned it and the price shot up.

Apologies I didnt make it very clear. I meant the shroud that comes with the SU TMIC. On SU's website they state their TMIC ' includes bolt on, removable shroud that replaces stock black plastic cover.' But I just noticed in their Colour options drop down menu, it shows the SU shroud costs $39 more. Confusing.....

Thanks coyfish. Found your pic - hadnt looked at that particular thread for a couple of days.

When SU say 'shroud' in their description on their website do they mean a cover that will actually go over the intercooler, or are they referring to the plate that surrounds the actual intercooler core?

im pretty sure the plate that surrounds the IC. Its just to make it look a bit nicer. I dont think a plastic shroud would fit over the larger intercooler without hitting the firewall.
