i have a greddy electronic boost guage but it not working properly so i wanna replace it with a cheap(under 100) mechanical guage. what do u think i should get ? anything other then the autometer ultralite series tho haha. I was looking at the VDOs and they seem to be pretty good and cheap, they are also used on bimmers so im guessing they are of good quality and will match the red msp gauges.

Uh, autometer? Sorry, I had to. To all those that responded with that: READ HIS POST.
That being said, perhaps you could find a defi d-gauge cheap online of on ebay. I heard that they may be discontinuing the d-gauge line, so maybe you could find a good hook-up.
Here's one for (barely) under $100
ebay link (http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Defi-D-Boost-Gauge-Black-or-White-3604-3603-D-Gauge_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQcategoryZ38660QQitemZ79877 92963QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW)
To be perfectly honest, autometer is the best bet for your money. Sorry, don't hurt me :D

Take a look at Stewart Warner gauges. They actually accurately read boost unlike the piece of shit Autometers.

IIRC u had Greddy guages too right ? my greddy electronic guage sucks.. the needle keeps vibrating and jumping around... it goes to 2 bars sometimes (boom07)

Damn, I forgot about those. There were a couple posts on the Mazda boards a while back that said that these were the best things since velcro.

That sucks about the D-Gauge line, as that will make every single Defi gauge a data-logging gauge. Lame.

Well, it's just a rumor. As far as I know, it hasn't festered into a fact quite yet.

I'll suggest the Defi D-Gauge as well. I love mine. Very accurate and looks excellent with the stock lighting.
The Stewart Warner gauges are also supposed to be good.
I looked into VDO gauges myself, but as I can recall finding them in imperial units with a white face and either amber or red backlight was just about next to impossible. (of course this was over a year ago, so that might have changed)

Thanks! you always have helpful replies hehe. VDO with white face and red amber backlight is what im looking for exactly but i think im gonna settle for the black face red light VDOs ... 220 dollars on the greddy boost gauge down the drain..

Phantom Autometer. they look really nice.
the gauge you posted isn't a autometer phantom gauge.
......but this is a VDO gauge that costs $25 from www.summitracing.com
the part # is vdo-150052_m
it tends to stay a hell of a lot more accurate then the autometer gauges, and and since it doesn't read VAC it also helps keep it accurate.
if you want more options let me know,I know a lot of gauges, and were to get them cheaply
FSDET
10-10-2005, 03:49 AM
so this wouldnt be as accurate? cuz i really use the VAC read on my current guage to determine how close i am to boosting when im in 5th gear ect... http://store.summitracing.com/default.asp?Ntt=vdo&Ntk=KeywordSearch&DDS=1&searchinresults=false&N=0&target=egnsearch.asp
and how hard is it to install an electronic water temp guage ? i have a dual a pillar pod that i havent used since my greddy is a 60mm so i was thinking to pick up something else with the VDO boost guage .. and i think the water temp would be the most entertaining haha
wicked
10-10-2005, 04:08 AM
your factory water temp is more then enough, your much better of useing a oil pressure.
but if you need a boost/vac gauge, then you really should spend the money for a better one.
may I suggest the autometer procomp liquid filled?
I absolulty hate autometer gauges, but I have had very good luck with the liquid filled.
may be to big to fit your pod though.
AND STAY THE FUCK AWAY FROM THE ULTRALITE SERIES!!!!!!!!!!

i know haha u can read that in my first post, i hate thr Ultralite series... and i just like the water temp cuz it helps u determine how hot ur car really is after some spirited driving, unlike the stock one which stays constant... so is the oil pressure gauge hard to install ?
