just as the title says when im just driving casually shifting at like 2300 rpm i go into the next gear and i notice that im hitting boost in super low rpms.. its happening in all gears except first. this sint normal is it?

that doesn't sound right..... What gauge are you using

its possible, these are small turbos and don't have much turbo lag. i wouldn't recommend boosting that low but it will start to spool.

im using the dashhawk

and im not trying to boost then.. i barely have the throttle down at all and it starts to boost.. by 2300 rpm i can have up to 10 psi? wtf is going on with my car lol

So when your around 2300 your boosting up to 10 psi?

yea its gradual.. ill slowly build from 1-10ish.. i can keep it out of boost if i stay off the gas almost completely but then im barely accelerating.

hmmm, yea that is kinda weird....cuz my atp turbo would start boosting rround 3500-4000 rpms, its of course also bigger but....hmm, sorry i cant be of much help, haha, im new to al this stuff, seemd odd tho...hopefully you find your answer bro

its not a problem, its just how the turbo works. mazda picked a turbo that would give you that instant power feeling which this one does. i dont think its that hard to stay out of boost. drop down a gear if you do, you probably get it to build more because you are in a high gear with low rpm's so the extra load will spool the turbo faster.

ahhh i see.. makes sense

thanks bova

... you shouldn't be boosting that low... there's not enough pressure to create boost at 1700rpm. Can you log this and post? Something doesn't seem right....

Boost isn't RPM related. Boost is throttle percentage related.

You mash pedal, turbo spools.

...you don't get boost if there ins't enough exhaust... and at 1700rpm, there definitly ain't enough exhaust to turn the turbo and create boost.... it doesn't take long to get from 1700 to 2500rpm (when it should be boosting). That's why I want to see a log.

there will be enough exhaust if you are loading up the engine to much. if you are in to high of a gear at that rpm range, it is possible to have boost that low. what gears does this happen in?

There is enough exhaust to make boost at that rpm. I can boost that high and higher in lower RPMs in higher gears.

it happens in every gear but first.. but more so in the higher gears
ill do some runs tomorrow and log them..

judging by the logs i saw of your, you weren't in boost at that low of an rpm. are you sure you aren't just seeing vacuum and thinking boost at that point?

no im sure. the logs i put up where really bad.. i just had surgery today so im kinda out of commision for the mext week, but as soon as i can drive ill get some more up
