View Full Version : what should my boost be?

so i just installed my dash hawk and it shows my boost spiking 15-16ish holding 13-14ish.. its never consistent and jumps around everywhere.. i thought it was suppose to be spiking 18 holding 15? i have the forge bpv on and checked all my connections. no other engine mods. anyone got an idea?

What's the setup of your Forge? Blue or yellow spring, how many shims? What other mods do you have?

All of that factors in for boost readings.

You're probably about right then. I was spiking to 18 with the CAI, but now I can easily spike to 19 or 20 with the inlet installed.

if you are holding 15psi you are fine. it doesn't need to spike and if its not then thats good.

I'm running yellow spring no shims and spiking 18-20ish...but holding around 15.5ish...maybe take out shims????
I am experiencing some pressure release in high gears with yellow spring and am thinking about switching to blue.

Before I had my TMIC i was spiking 19 and holding 17-18 with blue spring + 2 shims.

if you are holding 15psi you are fine. it doesn't need to spike and if its not then thats good.

i wish i was holding 15.. im barely holding 13.. its all over the place

and im gonna try and change out the shims and springs and see if that helps

Depends what gear ur in. If ur in 3rd or up and barely holding 13 u have a leak.

i dont think it matters for us ms6 guys.. i k no the ms3 has some sort of torque regulator but not us. and its all gears that isnt holding :(

also im noticing boost at super low rpms.. have to do with the same problem?

Well you can generate boost at any rpm depending on how hard you press the accell. Im still trying to figure out why your only holding 13 psi though. I mean its not terrible but it should definately be higher. Have you checked all your hoses and clamps? Check the T on your boostgauge as well if you have one.

i dont have a boost gauge, just using the dash hawk. and ive checked all the hoses like 5 times. i talked to a service guy at mazda but he was less then useless. if i have time tomorrow/if i remember ill do some runs on the dash hawk and toss em up here

so i went out and did some pulls in 2nd 3rd and 4th but only one of them saved. ill go back out later and do some more, i have family over right now so i cant. also, how do i load them onto here? photobucket or something?

you can just take a screen shot and either host them somewhere or attach them.

i couldnt find the wastegate pid on my dashhawk. and i dont kno when ill be abel to go do another run. hopefully later tongiht once all the family leaves

I spike at about 21 or 22 and holds around 17. I must have gotten a good one or something.

I spike around 20 and I hold at 18-19 . . . without a tune.

ms3action the wastegate pid is under the mazda specific sensors on the dashhawk. i will say you are loading up the engine to low. i wouldn't go full throttle at any less than 2500rpm, and when your tach shows 2500rpm you are actually at 2300 because it is about 200rpm's off as i have seen from using the dashhawk and ap. you started yours at 1800 rpm, keep doing that and i dont think your engine will like you very much.

must also be why your throttle plate isn't open all the way, to much load.

okay.. when i do my next runs ill do them in the higher rpms
