hey i know this is a shot in the dark... but is there a possibility that running a TMIC might aid our cars? i was looking into a better fmic than i have and i came across the ms3 tmic and it looked very efficient. any ideas?(cool)
if so i think it will help to reduce engine bay temperatures and remove the need for more piping so therefore it should alow more throttle response right? and that way those who run Aftermarket hoods with scoops in them will benefit.....
its just a thought so if not then hey no need to flame!

no such kit exists. theres a why? question in there somewhere...plus, there's 0 clearance between the hood and the engine to have room for this.

Look up a guy named terbow if you want different options other than a FMIC.

awww... yeah i was thinkin since the shop swapped my valve cover and i have no use for my oem plastic msp cover that there might be more room... hmmm so it would wind up looking like an sti or dragger huh?
and thanks i will look him up right now

terbow had the air to water didn't he? I've thought about goin with that setup...
but yeah, TMIC wouldn't be an option for this car unless you went with a full custom hood. For what you'd have to put into the hood (not to mention how rediculous it may end up looking) you could have a nice SMIC, FMIC, or Air to Water IC setup...

Yep. Terbow has the only one that we know of. It's a very nice sleeper set up.

I've definitely considered copying his setup.... be a hell of a lot easier to route piping!!

gotya. i am a big fan of smokey nagata and on his nardi supra he somehow went with radiators in the back of it but of course he had the airflow diverted to those... my next q is is there a way to help divert airflow towards the rad and IC? like maybe a diverter plate to be welded to the top of my slimmer fmic and kinda angle air that goes above the fmic towards the rad? i just want better flowing capabilities for my oem radiator.

one recommendation with the FMIC would be to go to a P5 radiator, and removing the SMIC. this way you eliminate a place for air to slip around the FMIC. I saw one member actually drilled holes in the bottom of his front bumper so that air would flow to the bottom of the FMIC... you could create some custom ducting from the opening in the bumper to the core if you are concearned, but all of this is really unnecessary, having a FMIC at all is plenty of cooling for these cars. Go too cold and you'll hit fuel cut, even at stock boost... trust me, I'm in WI, and drive it all winter. It goes below freezing, I either back out of the throttle, or fuel cut.

yeah i hear ya on that... i dont necessarily deal with that much cold weather... i am inaz, but yeah no desire here for fuel cut. i used my car for top speed and since i bought this one i haven't been able to wangan it up plus my civic was faster at top speed... i just want a good setup for that. like i know the motor layout i want but i am trying to prepare the cooling department first.
what about a ic that is fmic but on its side and angled up a lil like maybe 45 degrees. Then i can almost run the whole v mount setup rx7's use.... think thats possible? or maybe run a big fatty radiator and the air to water?

or would that hinder slash detract form the dedicated ic airflow? i am at work and once my new turbo comes i am gonna be redoing my ic setup so i wanna go at this from all angles.

I don't think you would have enough room to run a v mount setup. Rx7's have a ton of engine bay room. Why not get a PWR radiator and put twin SPAL fans on it?

that was the other thing... my rad currently has the oem fan on the pass side and idk if it is oem or not but there is a smaller one without mounting points on the drivers side. it was attached to the rad via push-through rods and it left huge holes in the rad and idk if i should yank it out or if i need it. can anyone p[ost up pics of a oem fan setup?

Sounds like your drivers side fan is definitely an aftermarket one. The usual OEM fans look nearly identical, and the stock driver's side rad fan would look like the one that is currently on your passenger's side.

yeah the pass side is the same height as the rad from top to bottom of the metal part, but the other one is maybe half or 3/4 of the metal area. i wanna rip it out but idk if i can or not.

there are huge downfalls to a top mount, like the fact that heat rise's so top mount's get heat soak hence why most MS3 guys get FMIC, if throttle response is what you want get a SMIC and hard pipes... this setup has been proven time and time again and screw the TMIC idea its a waste of time IMHO
