yo dont need to remove the smic or headlights. its a pretty straightforward install....are you looking for anything specific?

yeah every FMIC is pretty self explanitory, remove the fron bumper and install the core on the bumper beam (crash beam) and connect the hardpipes then put the front bumper back on... thats the basic idea!

ya i get it, i was just looking to see if people have come across any snags that that would warn about. Or anything they wish they had done differently now that its over.

from what i hear you want to wrap up the hot pipe to protect it from getting all scratched up while you try and get into place.

removing the heatshiled might help with the hotpipe. i stuck the pipe into place and then bent the line until there was enough clearance for the pipe to line up wth the hole.

Hot pipe is the hardest part.

I didn't wrap mine at all, and got it in scratch free. Removing the HS does help a bit, other then that, just be careful!

i posted this in the first thread, but here it is again:

Here are a few things I found necessary to complete this install.

After cutting the slots for the intercooler piping, i did not like how it weakened the vertical support pieces. I traced a template out of cardboard and had a machine shop cut me steel reinforcement brackets for both sides.

http://i264.photobucket.com/albums/ii174/downcourt1/pipes/intercooler%20install/passengerbracket.jpg

As stated in the instructions, the power steering cooler had to be placed behind the hood latch support. After doing so, i wrapped part of the power steering cooler to keep it from rubbing. I also used a metal loop with a rubber lining to keep the cooler from rubbing the frame.

After seeing how the a/c dryer lines sat higher than the cold pipe itself, i did not see moving the dryer down in its bracket and bending the a/c lines (that were already bent sharply at the condenser) as the best solution. I pulled the dryer towards the firewall and remounted the dryer to the side of the frame. Now it is completely out of the way and there are no rubbing issues.

I encountered an issue with the backside of the intercooler core digging into the hood latch support. Once you bolt up the bumper support beam, there is no adjustment in regards to how close or how far the car sits from the car. Meaning, there is no way i installed it improperly. Not a big deal at all, i added 1 metal spacer to each bolt. As you can see in the picture, there is a tiny sliver of light between the core and the hood latch support.

Here are some pictures for the a/c lines on the passenger side (for the hot pipe). The line with my thumb on it needs to be moved towards the side wall. Make sure you use caution when bending these lines. I would recommend holding the top of the line where it connects to keep it as steady as possible. Do not bend it at the connections or you will be in a world of hurt. I barely bent the line with my pointer finger on it towards the front of the car. You may not find that necessary, it all depends on how the pipe sits with the stock turbo (i have a larger one). Keep in mind that both lines are touching the hot pipe. The hot pipe is touching the rubber portion of one line, so that is good. I am going to wrap the hard line touching the pipe with a rubber hose.

I had a greddy style BOV flange welded onto the cold pipe.

I had the recirculation nipple removed and a patch welded over. The patch worked out perfectly because it gave me a spot thick enough in the cold pipe to tap for a intake air temperature sensor (used by the haltech unit).
