3M clear TAPE vs NO TAPE???? HELP

Ok so i now got my 06 Black speed 6. GREAT!
but now do i buy this 3 M tape stuff again to cover the front from rock chips.
I live in CAlgary Alberta Canada. lots of litttle rocks espically in the winter!

but i had it on my protege last time Greeen, and after a few years i could really see the line half way up my hood. I HATE IT in the summer. i wax my car and BANM! there it is.

So now do i buy this stuff again or no?
get the car detailed every few years instead, or just get the tape on the front bumper, no on the hood, so you dont see a line?

so what should i do HELP, no to mention PRICEY AS HELL??/

Did you know that you are not suppose to apply wax on the film, right?
I had mine since i bought the car and no problem yet so far, and worth every penny of it.
