I have my HKS BOV on recirculation right now but want it in vent-to-atmosphere. Can someone give a write up for that? With pictures, if possible, because I a big noob :(. Sorry for the stupid request T_T.

Did you not install it yourself?

Im not that familiar with this bov but there should be a recirc fitting inside the trumpet. Basically something that covers the whole. Remove this and you are now venting to atmosphere. Its a pretty simple apparatus so just look at it and take it apart. . .

So just remove the hose that's connected to the BOV? That's it??? My friend was the one who installed it to recirc from VTA and it seemed like he did so much...o_o

Nope dont think you have to touch any hoses.

Maybe this will help you.

:( I need it in VTA mode. It's in recirc and I need to get it out. I'm bad at reverse engineering so I need some pics or REALLY good descriptions cause I don't even know what the parts are called.

Don't understand why you "need" it in VTA, especially when this car was meant to run in recirc. But hey, it's your car. Disconnect the negative terminal on the battery to reset the ECU. The thick hose connecting the valve to the inlet, that needs to be removed. Depending on which HKS kit you bought, it should have come with a rubber cap for the inlet. If not, I think they're $10. Once the hose is removed, you'll notice it was attached to the valve on a "nipple" called the recirc fitting. Around the valve itself you'll notice 8 allen screws, 4 of those need to be removed to get the recirc fitting out. Once that's done, take out the fitting and put in the adapter that has fins inside in the shape of a Y. Reassemble the valve and you're set. Should take about half an hour if you're taking your time.

It's true. I was once elected chapter head of my local Alcoholics Anonymous, but was removed from that position a week later when I said the next meeting was BYOB.

Did you look at that link I posted. . . shows exactly what you need to do with pictures at every step. Scroll down a bit on the page

I'm actually going to push the envelope and run a turbosmart dual port with a smidgen of VTA in higher RPMs, like >5000 if I can help it. I would never run a balls-out VTA given all the backfiring and other issues.

I cant beleive nobody just said to pull the damn recirc hose and its now in VTA. YOu can do more like taking out the Recirc fitting but tha means you have to remove the BOV and take the front off to get to it. Just remove the damn tube and if you want it back in recirc connect it. Simple as that, just plug up the recirc hose with something. I pulled the hose off so just follow it and block where it connects.

my car runs perfect on VTA. no jerky shifts. no back fires. no rough idles. hell, just to try i didn't even plug the recirc hose (just to see what it would do) drove around the block and nothing. i really dont think it matters. maybe my car is just special though... (jerkit)

I hope you plugged it back up...having non-filtered air going into the engine isn't the best idea. And I tried VTA as well and it ran like crap.

thats a dumb idea. you have to plug that up because otherwise you'll suck in a ton of unmetered/unfiltered air.

I have my greddy type-s in VTA and it sounds gorgeous. I took the idea from b-ron and shoved a D battery into the end of the recirc tube. It works fine like that, no need spend a grip on the recirc tube caps. I was at the Dollar Tree and got a 3 pack of D-batteries for a buck, used one for the recirc tube and the other one for the flashlight I put in the glovebox whenever working on the car at night.

Make sure you keep sparks away from those batteries. They'll explode in your face!

Kain let's invent a BPV that has an air compressor and measures how much air is going into recirc and pushes that much air to atmosphere simultaneously. We'd make millions. I guarantee it.

I just want my BOV to release colored smoke from my front fenders that matches my paint/neon underglow.

I think it would be cooler if you got some purple and gold confetti packets and went to tiger stadium. Then you could hit high gear and sand-blast folks in purple and gold with the vent...

Bad news: I got a CEL :(. I've run VTA before and it didn't do it on the previous time. All I did was remove the hose connecting to the BOV and change the inserts (hose insert to fin insert). What else must I do? What did I do wrong?

Did you plug the recirc hose?

yeah you probably got code P2187 for being lean. thats probably cause you didn't plug the recirc hose so you are bringing in unmetered air. i went to a hardware store and bought a cap that you put on like the bottom of a chair or cane for 99 cents. it was 1-1/8", worked like a charm.

Can I just plug up the hose? The hose is still connected to the inlet and I want it so I can put it back to recirc quickly.

stick a D battery in the end of the recirc hose, it works perfectly. Not all the way in there but shove the batter about 1/3 or 1/2 of the battery length in the hose.

I went to Home Depot and bought a 1 1/8" plug for the bottom of chairs and fit it into the recirc hose. I'm still getting the CEL. Does it take some time to go away? I still feel it jerk around the same amount as when I first changed to VTA.

It will go awqy after driving like 40-50miles, the jerking will calm down also as long as you capped the recirc tube all the way
