From what I have read the oil seals in the K04 on our cars are prone to failure, and I think mine is toast. What are good replacement options? Does a K04 from a VW bolt on? Is it cheaper to just rebuild? My car is a 06 MS6 with 36k on it, Fujita CAI and a 3" DP.

protege garage offers a rebuild program. check out their website for details.
if you have smoke coming out of your tail pipes how much. some folks just run a thicker motor oil and say it seems to help.
unfortunatly theres no cheap solution.
as far as the VW thing, i believe i read once that the K04 is an upgrade over the factory turbo for say a GTI. i think they have a t-25 sized hair dryer on em stock. i could be wrong though.

Finally!!! Thank you for the reply I would like to upgrade to the K04 if possible I guess I could compare pictures and make sure they are the same. Can anyone confirm that it is a direct bolt? If not what needs to be done to make it fit?

the K04 is what is on the mazdaspeed 6. protege garge reworks them to flow smoother at stock boost. i'm not sure if you can or cant run the reworked turbo with the stock maps. beside you would prolly get best results with some tunable engine management.
they're are some after market turbos that fit as well. but at that point you may as well go all out. full exhuast, mani, fmic, ecu, etc...
