Yes ebay does sell CAI, I got 1, it was like 20 bucks or so. If you want a name brand better one, its like 100+. If Mazda leaves the tach wiring in the harness, you could swap a cluster in with a tach, from the same year and engine/trans combo. If the dont do that, then you can get an aftermarket one, and hook it up to the neg side of the coil, and whatever other wiring the tach requires. Here is an aftermarket one in my truck, as my Prot already has the factory 1.

It sounds like you have a dx protege. Some dx pros came with a tach cluster with a 6k redline. You can swap in one of those or swap in a lx protege cluster. It has a 7k redline so you'll have to pay better attn as the dx is only 6k redline. As far as intakes go just get a 90-93 honda accord cai. It requires a cut witht he dremel but it has better curves than the ones I've seen for aprotege. The protege ones usually come with a 90 deg bend close to the throttle body and in my honest opinion kills performance. The accord one has smooth bends.

See I don't like that 90 degree bend. The airflow would just smack that like its smacking a wall.
I've never put an intake on my car. Waste of money for 1-2 hp. I have a turbo in mine. A dremel is a rotory cuting tool. Do a google search ;)

I got better gas mileage with that wierd 90* then with the stock filter. Plus it was like cheaper then the filter lol. I dont like that 90* either but whatever works. Im a redo mine in the summer and get it into the fender well.

Where ever ud need too, like whatever bend u need, cut the pipe there, u can use a hax saw as swell, just clean the edges with a file, and make sure there isnt any metal to go into the intake.
