2002-626

I have a question about a 2002 2.5 mazada 626 I bought. I knew the engine could be bad and I bought the car as is.

Can I put a contour motor in its place, maybe a duratec 2.5. The problem seems to be the coil pack no distributor deal. Hollander Interchange says 01-02 only. Does anyone know what will fit as a long block, I can swap my intake and other misc. items, but I want to make sure what ever I do replace it with the car will run. What years would work in the Ford line. Used engines for this car are upward of 1250-2000 grand. Would the SVT or Non SVT work or duratec only.

Thanks Al

1250 grand? thats alot of moola. like more then ive ever seen. lol.

the 2.5 you have in your 626 has NOTHING to do with the ford built contour 2.5 or any other duratech 2.5. your 2.5 is lightyears better. ;) you have a mazda KL dohc 2.5.

and your motor is extremely CHEAP to replace. the motors are dime a dozen, and you could even get a JDM one like schnapps pinted out for under 1000 shipped. the motor was used from 92 to like 2002. probes, mx6's, 626, millinia's all used it here in the states.
