Hey. I've done all the research I can and looked at every picture on this site reguarding this topic. But I'm still not a hundred percent on two things.

For this to make sense let me give you the run-down of my situation. I bought my MSP 2 months ago at the end of november, and was even smart enough to purchase an extended warranty through the finance comp. Alittle over a week and about 200 miles after I bought it my diff broke on my way to work. Since I had bought a extended warranty I had it towed to the nearest Mazda dealer to play it by the book, where my warranty company needed me to authorize a $600 teardown to remove the trans and expose the diff, I approved. The warranty inspector came down and pull'd my warranty b/c there are aftermarket parts even tho I bought it like that. Reguardless I had the mazda dealer put enough of the car together to tow it to the toyota dealer I work at so I could finish since the rest plus the teardown was now coming out of my pocket.

Ok now that where caught up I got the entire trans in two boxes in the trunk of my car in pieces. But after researching and looking at several different service manuals I can't identify what differential I have, however I've ruled out aftermarket helicals and the third revision because I believe those are spring loaded lsd's.

Also since I got the trans in pieces I'm not aware if any pieces are missing since I didnt do the dissassembly. But some schematics show bearing washers on either side of the spider gear assebmly on the differential housing. I have no sign of one. I was wonder ing if anyone knew for certain. I plan on rewelding it at this time since I don't have nearly enough money for anything else. Thank you for your time.

The question pertaining to the bearing washer, I'm wondering if a bearing washer sits below the spider gear shown in the last picture. Basically between the spider gear and the ring gear.

Sorry I do not know the answer to your question but you might as well look into replacing the syncros while your in their if any are bad.
