Hello I bought a turbo p5 not too long ago that is a small basket case. The engine is toast, but I have put fresh oil in it just to get it to run to pump fresh gas through it and to see what is and isnt working when I do a motor swap in the next few weeks or so.
I have checked all the fuses and they are intact. The car has been sitting untouched for 1.5 years. It will turn over and build oil pressure, but wont start.
It has a external fuel pressure gauge and when I am turning it over it seems to not get fuel pressure.
I used a test light and checked the wires to the pump to see if the pump was getting powa!!!!
It seems as if it isnt.
So.... is there perhaps a fuel pump relay or something of such nature?
Thanks much
Brian

oh yea I also forgot to mention the car has mpi tuner on it, dont know if that will make a difference. I also don;t think the car has a aftermarket alarm on it.

My guess would be behind the panels in the trunk/hatch area..

any thoughts?? I have been following the wires from the pump to their end destination. Seems that one wire from the fuel pump comes off of the under hood fuse box on the relay named Main. I have yet to replace and see if it cures my no fuel pump action.

I had the same problem with my shelby daytona. it had sat for 3 yrs before I rebuilt the motor. It wouldn't start for nothing. I drained the gas, blew out the fuel lines, and put in 93 octaine.
you might just have bad gas from it sitting around. I would say a good way to find out if it is the gas is to spray starting fluid into the intake and see if will fire. If it does then you know it's fuel.

I have a fuel pressure gauge on my car and its not building pressure. Meaning my pump isnt coming on. I sucked out most of the old gas and put in about 7 gallons of 93.
But it does me no good with out my fuel pump coming on!!:(

Okay worked on the car some today and tried to figure something out..
So far.. here is what I found...
Fuel pump is good I jumped it.
Tried to arc my spark plug wires with a screw driver to no avail.
I did it on cylinder 1 and 3 no arcing....
Also I think that my injectors arent pulsing as well.
Not to get uber noob but on a lot of other cars The fuel pump and injectors are intertwined with a relay unit. When the relay pops for instance the pump will not operate and the injectors will not pulse.
I haven't gotten much feed back on this but I am hoping to look at a protege shop manual and see if such a relay that exists for the fuel delivery system.
Tried starting the car with the fuel pump jumped it didnt start, due to no spark apparently and no injector pulse.
I also tried a spare known working ecu and it didnt change anything.
Any feed back??

worked on the car again for a very short period this weekend. Found out something down in the ecu region is arcing out. I started looking over alot of the wiring where the mpi tuner was installed and its not very good. I am hoping to fix all the bad connections and see where I stand from there.

I also did some reading about mpi tuner last night and apparently the turbo module is wired in with the fuel pump. When you turn the key to on or whatever position the fuel pump tells the turbo module to fire the coils.
So my coils arent firing at the moment and no fuel pump. I think I am starting to get pretty close to my issue.
I think there is a break or loose connection in the fuel pump wire. So hopefully I can find that and then My car will run!!!!(dance)
So I hope(sick)
Edit: I found out why my car didnt run..
I found out that I actually didnt have a turbo module, but that I was actually looking at my voltage clamp for my o2 sensor. haha Silly me anyways...
Apparently if you have fried coil packs your fuel pump will not cut on. The ignition and fuel system are tied into each other. So No fuel pump, no coils.
Didnt want to bump this to the top over a silly issue as such. I figured I would bring this thread to a close and for others future reference.
