Great news :), it could be more styling stuff for rest of the world, because many styling stuff you find for Mazda3, Mazda6 etc, for all Mazdas selling in US, but for new Mazda2 nothing or not goodlooking :(.

But what about the 1.6 MZR engine? 120hp? The upcoming new Mazda3 will have 1.6 MZR but with 105hp only...

I've heard rumours that the MS2 was supposed to come with a 1.5L 236hp turbodeisel. I know I'm probably dreaming, but I would be fine with that. :)

But we still have to wait for it. And if they only make it into a sedan, like the old M6 MPS it would be a shame :(

I think it's only natural for Mazda to offer a model that is smaller and cheaper than the 3 in NORTH AMERICA...Especially given the economy these days and the need for more environmentally friendly and higher MPG vehicles.

Remember, Mazda plans on reducing fuel consumption 30% across its lineup by 2015.

I can see 11-12k for a base model as a realistic number considering the 3 starts at 16k.

Keep in mind though it is a Ford Fiesta with more options as the research I did stated. It looks so good and is a Mazda need I say more! If I'm correct, the Mazda3 is a Ford Focus but that didn't stop buyers from making it the best-selling mazda in the US. I can't wait to go 40 mpg. (yippy)

looks like mazda is going to release the mazda2 here a little sooner. i think it's a good idea. the ford fiesta is getting all the shine and people are talking about the mazda2 as if it is based on the fiesta when it's the other way around. think by any chance we will get the 3 door?? i doubt it, but that would be nice. here's what insideline says:

We'll have to wait and see...2 months seems a bit early...I've read 3rd or even maybe 4th Quarter...Maybe as soon as spring or early summer! :D

Not sure about a 2.0 liter option...?

Also...I believe the Fiesta is actually based on the Mazda2 in terms of the chassis etc but obviously the two vehicles are quite a bit different in most other respects...:)

?? hmmmm? i'll believe it when i see it. i've only heard we were going to get the 1.5 liter. i think that makes more sense seeing as how mazda wants to be competitive in the small car crowd. bigger engine, bigger price. i am kinda anxious to see what options we are going to get though. i'm not expecting much out of the ordinary, like a sunroof....:)

I checked with a local dealer and they do not have them in the system to order yet. My guess is April and they will start arriving in July. That is what happened with the 2010 MS3.
