Great news :), it could be more styling stuff for rest of the world, because many styling stuff you find for Mazda3, Mazda6 etc, for all Mazdas selling in US, but for new Mazda2 nothing or not goodlooking :(.

But what about the 1.6 MZR engine? 120hp? The upcoming new Mazda3 will have 1.6 MZR but with 105hp only...

I've heard rumours that the MS2 was supposed to come with a 1.5L 236hp turbodeisel. I know I'm probably dreaming, but I would be fine with that. :)

Chill guys, it will probably be the 1,5 turbocharged to some 160bhp. And it will dispense of the competition with ease, since it is quite light and fast even with the 1.5 standard 103bhp engine.
But we still have to wait for it. And if they only make it into a sedan, like the old M6 MPS it would be a shame :(

I think it's only natural for Mazda to offer a model that is smaller and cheaper than the 3 in NORTH AMERICA...Especially given the economy these days and the need for more environmentally friendly and higher MPG vehicles.

Remember, Mazda plans on reducing fuel consumption 30% across its lineup by 2015.

I saw a bunch of Mazda2s in Chile and Argentina when I was there recently and they look great. I almost asked this lady on the street to sit in her car but my wife was with me. :)

don't forget guys - its totally feasable that the 2.0L MZR will bolt in with some coaxing :) the Ford Fiesta XR4 runs the same platform as the mazda2, and comes with the 2L engine - and we know the 2L can be made to put down some serious power....

I would pay for an MS2 BIG TIME! I Really want that to be my next car if Ford doesn't give us an ST version of the Fiesta. The aftermarket for the Mazda2 will be huge either way.

Hells yes i'll buy one of those, Mazda hatchback owns. I'd love a white one, with some gold rims, tinted windows, and a system... then i'll have a nice daily driver.(alright)

nice. i'll see if the g/f would be interested when it comes out. The mpg and sportiness is hard to pass up. Hopefully they start around 11-12k range. She hates hatches though.

I can see 11-12k for a base model as a realistic number considering the 3 starts at 16k.

I can't stand the thought of waiting that long now that I know it's coming here..I have
a 47 mile commute each way to the office (all highway) and the 2 will be a perfect DD.
And my Protege just turned 130k, so I was going to replace it in the spring...
