Yeah, they suck. My wife laughs at me when I honk the horn...her Focus has a better one! The Autozone Fiamm Highway Blaster is a popular replacement. I think there are some threads on how to and maybe even some that still have horn audio in them for comparison. I'm going to get around to changing it out one of these days!

Mine crapped out as well. Just went to autozone and got one off the shelf. Now it sounds like standard american car
I still want to install train horns, if they didn't weigh so much

The Hella Supertones are nice.....and LOUD. I have heard them first hand on Kansei's car. Had my wife not bought me a Nautilus horn, I would have gone this route.

I had Hella's. They were great. The same thing happened with me, the stock horn crapped on out me.

Yep same thing happened to me so I just threw it out.Now I have a set of train horns with air tank and separate compressor I try not to use it too much but if somebody cuts me off or something oh yea I let them have it on top of that the horns are hooked up to my alarm system FTW but it also goes off when I lock the doors scares the hell out of ppl at shopping centers...

The Hella's are much cheaper and just as effective.

Hella's airhorns sound like a Ferrari horn. Not most effective
My buddy has em on his focus, and people laugh more at him than they did me!

I meant it as they are just as effective at getting your point across to the idiot who cut you off, etc.

why would you rather not say? I am curious cause only place i can think to put em is either in the fender of the front bumper, or behind the lower grille

just curious but to run a train horn don't you need quite a bit of air. i.e some pretty big air tanks. I was looking around my car and i have to agree with Pro5 i can't really see anywhere else to put the tanks, unless you have them in you're trunk or spare tire well?

my horn died too and i know at least 2 friend with proteges who's horn died the same way. It's pretty stupid the way they mounted it ! A metal unpainted part in the front grill right were all the water, snow and salt gets in !
If youre in a place with bad winters, go change your horn right now !
As for the replacement, pretty much any horn will do the trick so if you have an old junk car sitting around, take its horn and put it to good use !

I've seen the train horns before, what I am calling BS is that they are on a Pro5.
I want to know how and where it's all mounted

I met a guy in Carlisle who was installing a horn from a NYFD truck. He was mounting it in front of his radiator on custom brackets. IIRC he was going to run it off an air compressor in the trunk.

I don't have pics but saw the horn mounted on brackets. He had just gotten the car back from the shop (engine repairs) and didn't have time to hook it up before the show.
