Hello all,

I just bought a MD5 (2008) and i'm stuck with CD and radio only.

Sorry if my search was not that good, but i'm not able to find updated information on my new car and the possibility to make it rock.

I want to have an AUX-IN (3.5 jack is a minimum), but as i have an Iphone so i guess there is more to do. I guess i can also change the CD to a CD that read MP3. I have seen the complete Pionner DVD solution or "carputer" (it is too much for now). :)

I'm not bad with my hand (i have set a complete waterproof stereo on my motorbike) including solar panel to charge the battery all the time. :D

I found some audio mod thread and products but most are outdated.

If you were at my place... what would you do ?

If yours is a 2008, I think it should have an aux-in by the cigarette lighter plug, under the shifter?

See bottom of this pic.

Hi Mazdadude,

Humfff... Not at all (i like your :) ).

It is more like this one.

Note : i found this picture on the web. I don't have the MP3 logo and no tape player (instead a plastic panel for a possible tape/md) and sic... no Aux-in near the lighter.

Thanks for your time

From your reply it sounds like you have a 2007, not a 2008.

There are several options for adding the aux-in to the stock Mazda5.

Here is a popular one, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2006-MAZDA-5-FIVE-RADIO-AUX-INPUT-MP3-iPHONE-iPOD_W0QQcmdZViewItemQQ_trkparmsZ72Q3a1205Q7c66Q3a 2Q7c65Q3a12Q7c39Q3a1Q7c240Q3a1318Q7c301Q3a1Q7c293Q 3a1Q7c294Q3a50QQ_trksidZp3286Q2ec0Q2em14QQhashZite m120349850361QQitemZ120349850361QQptZCarQ5fElectro nicsQ5fInstallation

There is also another available that allows use of a SD mem card, or a USB key.

I agree with MadzaDude, you must have a 2007 model. You can use your cigarette lighter and add something like a Belkin iPod TuneBase II FM Transmitter (search Best Buy or Future Shop). I'm lucky I have the aux outlet. I hook my iShuffle with a male/male cable. Only drawback is this setup doesn't charge any ipods unlike the cigarette lighter setup.

Not sure how many of these are cross compatible but you might want to check out my audio input thread for the 3. I imagine several of them would work with the 5.

Damned !

How can i check this 2007/2008 story ? (cars papers says 16/07/07) and the seller says it was a 2008 model.

ICSspot you have done a great job !
Look like i will go for the dice (iphone + aux).

Many thanks to all

Bernard

Have the VIN # checked. It's that easy to find the year of a vehicle.

Excuse my ignorance... What is a VIN# and where to find it ?

What country are you in?

Do you have rear air conditioning vents in the center console / armrest?

The vin# is the long number that is on the firewall, dash, registration, door jamb, etc.

The 10th digit is the year, for example, JM1CR293160131197 is a 2006

Well, the information I gave was for North American models, I am unsure how they apply to Middle Eastern Mazda's...

Now that I look at the web site (sorry, my Hebrew is null but I can see the pics :D) it seems that for Israel the latest Mazda5 model might not have changed from the 2007 model that we get in some other parts of the Globe, possibly that is why the confusion

Hi I have one question.. Let's say you are listening on the radio (fm/am/satelite) or CD.. Then a call comes in, or a nav instructions comes.

- Does it mute the radio/CD and take over the speakers?

or do you have to reach out and push a button?

it does mute the radio when a call comes in. then you have to push a button to except the call (you can also choose an "automatic answer after Xsec" in the menu)

nehvada,

A few questions for you...

1- You are saying that when a call comes in, it mutes the radio and I guess it also displays the name (or phone number) of the caller. Although.... Since you might want to have a "private" conversation (if other people are in the car), can you still use another bluetooth device? Like my bluetooth earphone as an example?

2- Is the big screen that you have, is only available if you take the nav option? Or is it available if you take the (what they call in Canada) "Comfort package", that includes leather seats and in-dash 6 CD charger?

I presently have an 06 GT and my lease will be up next year. I would like the same screen as yours, but I noticed that the navigation option is 2 200 $ canadian.... Kinda expensive!

What's your opinion on these?
