Im about to clean my CAI for the second time now and I don't have any of the cleaning solution which was provided in the original kit at purchase.. Is there anything else I could use to clean the dry-flow style filter or just go to the Mazda dealer and buy the cleaning kit..? Thanks Yamaha72.

I ended up going to the dealer to get an oil change yesterday and was just curious to ask if they had the solution in stock... This is the bullshit excuse they gave me.. "We don't carry the solution for your application anymore due to the fact of the discontinuation of the product per Mazda USA" bs, bs, bs.... Then the same guy proceeded to tell me that I should just use the K&N cleaning kit and NOT TO FORGET TO OIL THE FILTER AFTER I WASH IT.. After that mistake on his part I wanted to slap him across the counter, how the F do parts guys get hired who don't know there shit, it's ridiculous! Anyway on with the rest of my dealership "Experience" I received the bill for the oil change and tire rotation and the lady said $117.xx, at that point I was somewhat infuriated because I had already waited for nearly three hours just for the service, I then looked at the statement and the dumbass service writer decided to tack on a $58.xx charge to "inspect the brakes" which are brand new Hawk HPS pads, after establishing the mishap I called the service dude over and asked him why I was charged the extra fifty something for a brake inspection when I didn't request the service he then told me that there had been a mistake somewhere in a seemingly "I almost F'ed you" manner... I ended up only paying like $60.00 for everything but the experience appalled me, so much GREED and not enough KNOWLEDGE!

that is F'd up. do you realize how hard it is to simply check the brakes? it's as easy as taking the wheels off and using your eyeballs. oh wait, the wheels were off anyway? (j/k i knew that, it was a sarcastic remark) that means all they had to do for a brake inspection was LOOK AT THE PADS AND ROTORS!

it's good that you called b.s. on that service writer, i wonder how many he actually gets on that. that's some shady stuff, and i really wonder if the tech even looked at the brakes at all, or if the writer just said he did

you should have asked them what the pads and rotors measurments were, cuz they are supposed to write that stuff down if they genually check the brakes

Would using a mild dish soap to break up oils or maybe even woolite for delicates work?

I had a dealer try to charge me $40 to clean the terminals on my battery once. ROFL.

i personally wouldnt use dish soap on it only because even the mildest dish soap is pretty harsh. i would try some tide if you really wanted soap. you would be quite surprised how clean it comes with just water. also you really shouldnt have too many oils on the air filter it should mainly be dirt and dust.

Hope you looked inside the pipe before putting it back on the car. I got someone's old MS CAI and the crud dried inside the pipe was unbelievable ... was from muddy water spray that gets in thru the fender vents and just dried up inside the pipe after getting inhaled in thru the filter. I wish I took pics before cleaning it up inside with a rag.
