so i'm getting my cx-7 serviced and started asking about the 2010 ms3.
sales guy that i bought my last 3 mazda's from said they got a memo
saying to expect the 2010 ms3 sometime in sept 09. 300hp 300tq and AWD has been confirmed as they are targeting the new evo and sti's. completely retuned 2.3L ms3 motor. weight goes up obviously, maybe they're just putting the ms6 awd system in? since it won't be competing anymore like the timeframe from when the ms6 followed directly by the ms3 was. prices he gave me were 25.5k for the base and 27.5k for the gt.

probably fake, but thought i'd share. if this comes true, i will be trading my car in haha, i'll be paid off this time next year. (gossip)

dealers dont know shit about new cars lol

yea that's what i'm saying, everything online points to maintaining FWD and just a minor tweak to the existing motor or maybe a new 2.5L disi turbo motor.
but it does somewhat makes sense since the only thing holding us back from the big boys is awd. if we had awd we would be right up there with the sti/evo's IMO.

If the new Focus RS is going to be FWD then theres no way in hell the Mazda is going to be considering they'll be sharing engines.

and if a pricetag of $25-27k is true, can you imagine? what would be the point of paying $10k more for an evo or sti?

of course, as soon as that would happen (ms3 awd 300hp) the sti and evo would revamp to like 350-400hp or something

if, and i mean IF, that is true, i will be trading the 07 in for sure...when the 2011 comes out. lol. i do not think i will be a first run vehicle again

yeah, AWD would definitely take the MS3 out of their target demographic as far as price is concerned...not gonna happen.

b.s. plain and simple...

had one try to tell me they were gonna put a rotary in the "upcoming" mazdaspeed mx-5... which never came:( with any motor

This is why Mazda should do a 350-400HP AWD MS3.

Mazda really needs to reconsider putting the rotary engine into the mx5, that would be a world beater, hands down.

My sister's boyfriends grandfather works for Mazda and he says that the 2010 MS3 will have 350hp & 380tq, AWD, 7 speed manual, 5 valves per cylinder and will be priced at $22.7k OTD.

Wow, I can talk out of my ass just like the Mazda salesguy did with you!

my tech swears up and down that mazda would not be releasing a 2010 MS3. that they would be releasing a mazdaspeed mx-5.\

so i guess we'll see

I just googled that Focus RS. Holy crap! Is that thing for real? From FORD!?!?

Man its going to be a sad day when a stock focus can beat a MS3.... or anything for that matter. I have owned a bunch of fords, and while they were ok cars, none were ever very fast. I hope this thing doesn't come to the states.

As for the AWD on the 2010 MS3 its a mixed bag for me. It would be nice to get the extra performance, but I like getting 30+ mpg on the highway.

And dealers are just a bunch of d-bags. One dealer I was talking to over the phone, who was supposed to know EVERYTHING (according to him) about mazda told me the 2009 MS3s weren't out when I was looking to replace my flooded one. I found this interesting as i had just seen one in person at another dealers lot!

When I bought a Miata back in 1999, I had to tell the saleman what kind of car he was about to sell me. He was fairly new and didn't know jack (squat). I got a good deal on that car. lol

yea i'm kinda hoping they don't make it awd and 300hp, that way i can keep my 08 haha :)

I hope they do bring the focus rs to the states, that's a great car and is an icon over in the UK. They are rock solid and can handle power better than our ms3. I don't think my next car is going to be another economy turbo car though, either the 370z or I might step it up and get a z06, but the RS is a nice little ford.

Also, I highly doubt mazda will try to go out and compete with the sti's and evo's, it's easier for mazda to beat the srt4's, ss's and wrx's. 300hp with launch control and no lift shift would be a monstor at the track for fwd.

When I bought my car in 2007, the dealer told me that 2007 was the only model year to be released for the MS3. Having said that, don't believe anything they tell you.

i used to sell cars, and while most people will definitely talk out of their ass...some sales people don't.
in fact, honda (who i worked for) made their sales people take a class before a new car came out. they would run down all the specs and compare it to other vehicles in its class. then you would drive it.
idk if mazda does that

Some mazda dealers do do, my salesperson told me he went to a class where they had the cx7 and a bunch of its competitors and got to drive all of them around and have a class on it. How much they know on future models such as a 2010 MS3 or even what the next mazdaspeed vehicle will be is unknown, he told me there is no word yet on what it will be.

my point was that they do this before the car is released. so perhaps, they might have gone to that class already. doubtful, but possible

This thread is funny. Mazda def undercut the STI/EVO market. The ms3 is a slightly different beast but going to all wheel drive and still compete pricewise will prob lose their niche. However this thread is funny about dealers. The salesman that sold me my car was the third place I tried. He was very knowledgable and genuine guy. No BS. Others can be so outragous in the things they say it's laughable.

I highly doubt the 2010 MS3 will be AWD but I won't be complaining if Mazda surprises us with one at that price point! I'd SERIOUSLY consider trading in my '08 for a 2011 model then.

I believe the 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 will break cover at either the Detroit auto show(NAIAS) or the New York auto show(NYIAS). The New York show is the last show of the circuit and good amount of big debuts have appeared there.

The salesperson that sold me mine was a GREAT guy. It was ME!!!!! HA HA HA HA and yes mazda sales people do have to take the same kind of tests about thier cars and the competitions cars. Its just that some guys that are what you would call " old school " sales guys are set in there ways and really dont give a shit about the tests or the information. Some of them have been around since the old days when you could just feed the customer whatever bullshit you wanted because there was none of this thing called the internet and information was not so readily available to people. Times have changed and so has the sales strategies but some guys just dont get it.
