finally got my windows tinted yesterday...and i forgot just how dark 5% really is. last car i had with that was my miata (had the hard top as well). it feels good to have some sort of privacy again (and by that i guess i mean no one can watch me pick my nose whilst driving).

came out to $239 (now brow), pluss $19.99 for front window insurance. in DE the only windows that matter are the fronts so if i have to take them off due to a ticket or inspection, the tint place with replace it for half price. it's used to be for free but there's a long story behind that.

meh...the guy does a good job (actually had it done in MD). this was the 4th vehicle i had him do, and i referred my sister's car to him. so actually, maybe i should have asked him for a preferred customer discount...oh well

as long as you are happy. its very possible its a regional thing too. i have noticed that tints cost more here in chicago as well. vegas it was a necessity basically so i think it was cheaper because just about everybody and there mother needed to get it done.

This is true out here in Vegas. There is such a high demand out here for it, the prices are that cheap. Most of the dealers here will put the tint on your car if you ask for it and its relatively cheap too. A couple of summers here will fade the hell out of an interior and cook you inside your car when you first get in it.

oaklandopen, I got my miata hardtop tinted 5% and I love the extra privacy. Your car looks pretty sleek with the tint. Good stuff.

looks good man. Where did you get it done? I still havent tinted my windows and if i can afford it, its on my list of things i'd like to do. I was quoted 275 by the rhino lining place on rt. 72, so 239 is a major savings for me.

by the way, i cant believe I still havent seen your car around newark. i've seen red and grey, but no other blacks

Looks great, but I couldn't do it. I was visiting family over Xmas who live on a poorly-lit road, and even with just 20% I couldn't see jack shit when backing up. Had to roll down the windows and look out, lawl.

the place i had it done is in elkton where rt40 meets 213. dont' know how familiar you are with elkton but there's a royal farms, mcD's, BK all around that intersection. the tint place is on eastbound side of 40 near that intersection. but there's only one way to get to it and that's coming from eastbound.

and i haven't seen your car either. i've seen a couple, but methinks they are not part of this forum or else they might have chimed in too

trust me 5% is terrible to see out of at night. for me it's worth it cuz my night driving is pretty limited, and most of the time it's in well-lit areas anyway. and i get bad headaches on a regular basis and daylight doesn't help.

I also have a black MS3 with tint that is otherwise stock. I had mine done at Formula One on 40, behind the post office. $520ish for 5% all around with the AS1 eyebrow, top-grade non-metallic tint with lifetime guarantee against fading, peeling, cracking, bubbling, or changing color. I think it's worth it; told me $160 to take off and reinstall the front windows when it has to go through inspection in 2013. Not really worried about tickets. ;)

And screw you all Delawareans who didn't get screwed with a PC tag just because the car is a hatch. :p

Looks good. My friend had 5% tint on his Jetta and it was dark as fuck. Unless something had a headlight on it, you couldn't really see much.

^^^ that's why I give them no reason to! I got the same shit just 18% on the back and 70% up front. I noticed a difference in steering wheel temp the first day it was in the sun with that 70%.

Man 5% is really dark. I had that on my first car and i almost backed out on a lady with a stroller. I went with 20% all around. I like the one % all around looks clean imo. But looks great on ur car.

I got 35% and wished that i went darker. I also paid about 225 for mine, with the warrenty. 5% is dark as shit, and looks nice. Might be an issue at night but still nice.
