Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think there was an STI in that video. From what I can tell, these were the cars:

Subaru WRX (manual)
Subaru WRX (auto)
Subaru Legacy B4 (auto)
BMW 130i (auto)
MS3

Clearly the MS3 would have reined in the 130i and WRX if it were a longer race but I'm fairly certain it had a couple of obvious advantages. One being that it had a manual as opposed to the auto-equipped cars (notice how it passed the B4 and auto WRX so easily) and it may have been one of the only cars in the test with dedicated summer tires. Although they don't say, it's very possible that at least a couple, if not all, wore all seasons.

Probably not due to the fact that it was only about 4 secs faster than the slowest car per lap, but I get what you are saying. It may have had a much faster hot lap time without the traffic.

I doubt it. He was pretty fair with the Civic, other than complaining about the top heavy handling and lack of power. There's plenty of power to be had over the Civic.

I know he's tough to impress, but he was impressed with the 05 hatch style Civic Si then dogged the new style Civic Si coupe. So I figured, there could be hope since the MS3 is better than the new Si coupe imo.

have you ever been on a race track or you just sofa racing? its not always that easy. you have to find your spot to get around and that can take a few laps to do. like i said earlier, look at the lap times at the end of the video. fastest lap time by MS3 by almost a full 2 seconds

Could be the wording but more likely, the tone of your responses that give us pause. Even in drag racing, it's not just about the car. The other half of the equation is the driver. The better car does NOT always win the race but in this case, it can be argued that the MS3 is the faster car by way of it's superior lap time. Of course, it's superiority could be due to other reasons as I stated earlier in this thread.

Now, on a straighway..I've pulled away from 2 Sti's stock for stock to date..so get your facts straight there too. Quarter mile run sure, awd launch wins the day (unless the driver sucks) but from a roll a speed 3 is more than a match for an sti or evo, it becomes a drivers race rather quickly.

Actually, not really. Not to be a bench racer or anything but Car & Driver's annual Lightning Lap says otherwise. At the same road course but on different days, an '07 MS3 lapped a full 3 SECONDS faster than an '08 STi. 3 seconds is an eternity on a road course and is even more than the 2 second gap the MS3 pulled on all the other cars on the Best Motoring video.
