Good Day
I have a 08 MS3
Has anyone had this problem, at 20K miles I noticed a long piece of plastic hanging down with the back lip of the rubber gasket that seals to the intercooler, the rubber strip was hanging about 1".
Took it to dealear said they couldn't replace just the plastic locator, they would need to replace the entire ram air assembly. ($500+) under warranty.
The service manager said they had never seen anything like it.
They replaced it and gave me a loaner while they did.

I just changeged my oil at 30K and to my surprise the rubber seal was hanging down again.
I can only think thet the rough roads under acceleration here in WI have caused a lot of wheel hop several times, I am thingking the motor is moving around so much that the solidly affixed scoop resting on TMIC with motor moving is breaking the plastic locator plate.
I let them know at the dealership and they are ordering another scoop assembly and they still say they have no idea what is causing the breakage.
Has anyone eles had this problem and if so do you have a better fix than a $500 unit when it is out of warrenty in a couple months?
Thank You

Control your wheelhop. Get a rear mount. The insurance company wrote my ram setup for 300.

There is something in the air it was called 5 degrees!!, Service manager said the same thing about wheel hop but how do you do the on the roughest roads you would every drive on, I drove on dirt roads all over Texas and North Carolina that are smoother than the local roads around SE WI.
Service manager ordered another complet assembly, he says they can't get just the $5 plastic part, and the auto industry wonders why the consumer thinks they suck.
I aske what happens when it happens again out of warranty, he said zip ties outa work.Go figure.
The part that holds the rubber seal to the scope is a 10" long by 1/2" wide hard plastic strip that has 4 little plastic hooks that connects the seal to the scoop.
