Im new to this forum and need some advice. Does anyone have any information on the new street unit top mount IC. I just noticed that they released one, and i was wondering if anyone knows what the proposed power gains are. It looks just like the ETS, but you cannot choose core thickness.

i am also curious to know if any one has tried this one or has heard anything. i know street unit makes some good products but its always good to find out from someone that has tried the part first.

i will be getting one soon, its still fairly new to the public(like 2 weeks old). but if your curious....SUmark has done some datalogging to coincide w/ this product and its posted on there forums. There is some helpful info. Im dodging the front mount as well and this seems to be perfect for my car considering i tend to buy SU parts if available vs. other companies.

SU make good stuff.. at least from my experience. I wuz one of the first with the ETS TMIC.. 3.25. served me well. as it was my 2 mod.. I had dynoed proof of 20whp when added with the CAI.

Im not sure weather to get the cobb DP or the SU TMIC. I have an Cobb AP, and a test pipe, and they dont have a TMIC map with out a Turbo back Exhaust. Any suggestions

You definitely should get the DP first.

correct me if im wrong, but I think he said that because the DP usually has the biggest jump in HP over other mods.

I would go with the TMIC. It will yield good gains and is easier to install. AP has some new maps if im not mistaken and you can send them your datalogs and they will help you.
DP will yield more power of coures but its a pita to install and could be the start of many problems.

I would like to go with the TMIC, but i think that with the AP i would see more gains with the DP. The only thing that i am worried about is the smoking turbo issue. I dont think that it will be an issue becuase the cobb DP is catted, but it is still a variable that i am thinking of.

Yeah you will get more hp out of the DP no question about it tuned or untuned.
Downpipes can cause smoking and some other issues. Also harder to install and can be a pain if you need to get warranty work / maintain your warranty.
TMIC are super fast and easy to put in.
If warranty wasnt an issue than the downpipe would be my pick.

An upgraded IC is also just plain good for your turbo and engine. Lower boosted temps, cooler running engine, less detonation, turbo not working as hard to blow through the stock IC. If I could go back, this would have been my first power mod.
The SU intercooler concerns me because there is no information available on it. What is the core size? What kind of pressure drop can you expect? Dyno results? (yes, I know that a dyno is not the best place to test an intercooler, but it would help to validate the other things I'm looking at.) I would feel better if they could offer any information on it...

Are you not going the FMIC route solely for the length of the install?

I did not want to go with the FMIC because of the install and because the top mount is easier to remove to warranty issues.

the issue is . . . is the SU model worth the extra 50 bucks over the EMS.

Coy the SU intercooler has a 100 dollar bill in the hot side pipe so its actually 50 dollars cheaper

the other day you were looking for an ets, and earlier in this thread you said "buy it you will love it trust me". Did you get a tmic yet?
I currently have the ETS and it works great. I noticed colder engine bay and gains right after install on the first drive. The ETS works great and is easy to remove for any warranty work.

Friend of mine has a speed 6 with the ETS in it. Definately pulls harder than mine. I actually bought the CP-E front mount but cancelled my order. I got it for 900 bucks brand new which is a great deal. Im going to just get a top mount. I dont plan on getting a downpipe for a while or a new turbo for that matter. Without those 2 mods I dont think the front mount is worth the extra money or hassle. Top mount seems like the best option for me right now. I will be ordering mine as soon as I learn more about the SU version.

Not sure im following. What do you mean "hot side pipe"? The SU version has the same description and appearance as the ETS. Only thing that looks different is a little cleaner finish. I see a boost tube kit that thay offer for 69 bucks which ill pass on. Maybe im missing something . . .
