I was scrolling through the catalog looking at pricing on rear cargo mats for my MS3 when I seen this:

Ashtray Replacement Compartment
The Front Ashtray Replacement Compartment provides extra storage for non-smoking drivers.
BN8F-V0-730F $40.00

I wonder what it could be? I'm definitely not a smoker, lol. What could I get out of that area for $40?

You mean the thing you can just yank out?

Well yeah, you can just yank it out.

I was just curious what the "compartment replacement" was. Like..what could it be for $40? Just a blank piece of plastic cut out like a cubby? That's a rip-off lol.

I made the mistake of purchasing this, although I didn't pay list for it. It is a total rip-off. It is the stock ashtray insert, but with black fuzzy stuff inside it. That's it. Mine is sitting in a box in my garage with the stock one.

I removed that whole part, glued a piece of ABS to the bottom of it to cover the hole, and stuck it back in. Works pretty much the same and cost about $2.

Mind taking a picture of it? I don't know why, but i'm curious to see what it looks like.

How much did you pay?

Am I missing something? If you pull out the ashtray, you have a cubby. One you can actually get your fingers in. Want one the doesn't let stuff rattle in it, put a strip or two of the fuzzy side of a Velcro strip on the floor of it.

I keep quarters in my ashtray. The two grooves hold the quarters pretty well and don't let them slide around.

Imagine the stock ashtray, just with a fuzzy lining inside. It's literally just that.

Thanks Kain! Wow that's funny. Seems like that should have came as an extra with the car! I guess they are assuming everyone gets the smokers edition setup lol. For $40, no thanks.

I just pulled mine out and cut a piece of that black non-slip dashboard mat material to the bottom of it. I used the remainder in the armrest. This way small items are far less likely if at all to slide around and make noise.

I tried this at first but it can sometimes be a pain to get coins out from the back corners. Leaving the ashtray still provides a good amount of space for change and best of all you can pull it out, in my case when I hit the Coinstar at my bank.
