A little early, but I'm helping some friends in the Indy Rotary club (whom some of us met down at the QSL meet in Columbus last March) set up this meet. Right now I'm gauging interest. It's open to all Mazdas, and we hope to have an awesome turnout. This is an all day event with a car show, prizes, and an all around good time!

So, let me know if anyone is interested in heading out there. I am definitely going.

Also: Anyone that makes a donation of $50.00 or more, your name will be on the t-shirt as an event sponsor, you will receive ten of our 50/50 raffle tickets, as well as listed on our donation to the Humane Society of Indianapolis! Well, just remember, for $10 bucks you are getting a whole day of fun, hell the Skillman Classic Car Museum (which normally isnt open to the public) is more than worth the 10 bucks...
We will have lots of prizes, goody bags that will be given out to pre-registered attendees only, and awards for each of the car show catagories!
Plus, your $10 gets you in to our VIP Party at Jillians downtown after the carshow for chicken wings, games, and more fun! =)
Register soon....because after March 15th, registration goes to $15 like Jess pointed out! And $20 on the day of the show.... ALL profits made will be donated to the Indianapolis Humane Society so if you are an animal lover this show is for you!

Thanks for the kind words Carl... but there are more people working on this than me! This is our first real "Event" but we hope that it will be one that people will want to keep coming back year after year for!
So update on the show: We currently have 89 cars registered. We only have goody bags for the first 100 cars, hell, we only thought we were going to get 60 cars! Sooooo... if you want a goody bag, make sure you get registered quick!
Cant wait to meet all of you in just 39 days! =)

Glad to see everyone is getting excited! Krystm is now our official countdown clock!
Ok, so here is todays update and a new revised layout. I had the opportunity to walk the grounds today and we are very excited! Ray is VERY excited to have us at his place and when you are there, please try to extend thanks to any of the Ray Skillman team as they have been truly incredible to work with!
A few ground rules:
1.) The entire area is pet friendly, with the exception of inside the museum. Please make sure that you keep your dogs on a leash.
2.) The museum is a SMOKE FREE facility. If you are going to smoke, please do so outside, and PLEASE make sure that you remove your cigarette butts.
3.) Please do not touch or sit in the cars in the museum. There are many cars in the museum worth over $250,000... (Oh yeah, everything in the museum is also for sale... so bring your checkbook if you want!)
4.) Please do not allow children to run around the museum.
5.) We will have music and a sound system, but we are asking that there be no "bass contests" or any other lound music during the event.
Thats about it... .Just need to remember that we are hoping to make this a year round event and hope that we are asked to come back next year!
Food: There will be food at the event in the form of Hotdogs, Chips, and a soda for $1.00! Yep... just $1.00... All the procedes will go to the Indianapolis Humane Society!
Car Wash 101: Driven Auto Detail will be conducting a Car Wash 101 seminar, including the basics, and how to properly clay bar your car!
Cornhole Showdown: We will be having a "Cornhole Showdown" that all paid registered attendees may participate in. You will get 8 bags and try to make as many points as possible using standard scoring. The top 8 scorers, will advance to our Mazda Final 8 Bracket to compete for prizes!
Entry: We will have signs on US 31 to guide you to Mazdafest! DO NOT try to enter using Apryl Drive. Use the service drive just north of Apryl Drive as shown on the map. There is a Skillman Collision sign that will be marked "Midwest Mazdafest - Enter Here" on the Marquee.
Parking: When you arrive your car will be photographed, and you will receive a 4x6 framed Mazdafest photo of your car at the end of the show! You will be parked by car type as shown in the map below. If you want to gaurantee that you are parked next to someone, you will need to make sure you arrive together. We will not be moving cars once they are parked. After you are parked, please come up to the the Registration booth, to pick up your goody bag, info packet, and Event ID. Your event ID should be worn throughout the event. You will also need an event ID to participate in the Jillians party after the show!
Awards: We will have awards in the following catagories, for Best in Class, 2nd and Third Place:
Best RX-7
Best RX-8
Best Protege
Best Mazda 3
Best Mazda 6
Best Miata
Best Non Mazda/Other Mazda
BEST IN SHOW: Selected by the Indy Rotary Club Officers
We will also have these awards:
Longest Distance Traveled!
Most Likely to be in the Fast and the Furious Sequel!
Most in need of a Detail by Driven Auto Detail!
Best Paint Job!
Best Interior!
Best A/V setup!
New Car Display: Ray Skillman will be bringing several new cars for those wanting to test drive a new RX-8, and even the new 2010 Mazda 3! He said depending on his inventory he may even bring some nice used Mazdas for those not looking for a brand new car!
Ok... thats about it... will keep you updated as we get closer. We only have 3 goody bags left... so if you havent registered, you should do so quickly! =)

Hey guys and gals... Just another reminder that we will be having Paintless Dent Removal from Dent Wizard on site for Mazdafest! The rates will vary depending on the size of the ding, but it will run you about $50 per "quarter sized" ding. Just so you know how much of a savings, the typical cost starts at $129, just for the first ding.
We are just asking for responses to let us know how many repair guys they should send out... If you are interested please send an email to me at flyboyindy@aol.com. You will NOT be obligated to get your car fixed... just want to gauge interest.

Ok, new activity for Mazdafest! We are working on finalizing the playlist for Mazdafest! We will have music from the 70's through today! We know that everyone has different taste in music and we would like to hear what songs you would like to have possibly included in the playlist!
Here is how the game will be played. Each registered attendee can send in ONE song request to Mazdafest@aol.com. If we play your song, you will have 30 seconds to get to the registration table to collect a prize! So send in your songs... we will take requests up until April 15th! Songs MUST NOT contain profanity as we want to keep this a family event. If there is a clean version of the song on iTunes let us know.

Just a few days until Mazdafest so just wanted to go over a few last minute things with everyone.
Parking:
With the amount of cars we are expecting parking will be tight. You will be directed to park in designated parking lots for each type of car. 3's with 3's, RX-8's with RX-8's, etc. We will not have the ability to "save places" for people, so if you want to park next to someone, you will need to meet up prior to the event, and drive in together. Please park your car where the parking team directs you to. DO NOT argue with the parking team, or decide to create your own parking spot. (I have seen this happen) You will be asked to leave the event.
Food:
We will have Hot Dogs, Chips, and Pop at the event. The price will be $1.00 for a hot dog and chips, 50 cents for pop, and 50 cents for popcorn. All money received from the food will go to the Indianapolis Humane Society.
Alcohol & Smoking:
There is to be ABSOLUTELY no alcohol on the premises. DO NOT BRING ALCOHOL TO THE EVENT OR YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE.
Smoking is only allowed outside of the museum. Please clean up your butts...lol (Ok, there is no cool way to say that...lol)
Raffle Tickets:
We will be selling raffle tickets for prizes for $1.00 Each. All procedes from the raffles will benefit the Indianapolis Humane Society. Anyone that brings in any of the items listed on the previous pages for acceptable donations will receive additional raffle tickets, based upon the value of the item.
Rain or Shine Event:
This is a rain or shine event. I would suggest if you have one to bring a canopy/party type tent that will shield you from the rain (or sun). Be sure to bring plenty of collapsable chairs as well!
Two Way Radios:
If you have two way radios, please bring them. When we leave for downtown (Photo Shoot and Jillians) it will help all of us to stay together as much as possible. For the trip downtown we will be on channel 3.
Registration:
If you havent done so, Registration will be $20 on the day of the event. There will be no exceptions. So save $5 and make sure you are pre-registered. Preregistration gets you a souvenier Event ID, Entry into the Car Show, and Corn Hole Challenge (or Bean Bag Toss..if you dont like the name), and $10 game cards and appetizers at Jillians after the show.
We will also be putting together goodie bags for those that registered after the first 100, so EVERYONE that preregisters will go home with some goodies!
Music Playlist:
We will be taking requests for the Music playlist until April 15th. If you your request gets played you will have 30 seconds to get to the music table to claim a prize! Please submit only ONE request to Mazdafest@aol.com.
On behalf of all of us at Indy Rotary Club and Ray Skillman Mazda we want to thank you for coming this week and we are hoping that this becomes the first of MANY Midwest Mazdafests!

I would like to suggest that everyone who stayed at quality inn (and those who were here with us that did not stay the night) write in a letter of appreciation. The attendant working the night shift went WAY out of his way to accommodate us, received reprimands from corporate about us being in the breakfast room drinking after the room was supposed to be closed, and may or may not have saved many of us from Public Intoxication tickets.
We as a group need to express our appreciation for the accommodation we have received....

So... I guess the moral of the story is keep your alcohol in your room. Nevertheless... the staff here has been awesome.

Just wanted to thank each of you for coming to Mazdafest this year, and let you know that we are DEFINITLY on for next year. So make sure you keep the third Saturday of April open for 2010!
We were able to raise $1,000 in cash for the Indianapolis Humane Society, and that doesnt count the HUGE amount of donated items that everyone brought in! It is so cool to be a part of such a caring community. Its great to have fun and see the cars, but when you can do it, and help a great organization that cares for our furry friends, well that makes this event really special!
It was so great to meet many of you, and finally put screen names with faces! I have already thanked my team, but I also want to thank Fatti(Brandon), TheJeans(Levi), Jem0473(Jess), WhiteArmour(Jeff) Satimko(Stephen), and Wagonbacker9(Carl) for all your help and generosity!
We hope to make next years Mazdafest even bigger and better than this year's event and thanks so much for everyone for traveling so far for a great cause!
If any of you have pictures to post of the event, could you please post them in the Mazdafest 2009 folder of our Photobucket account?

I got home around 5pm. As soon as I got here, I changed clothes and started wrenching on the Protege, returning it to stock. I just finished up.
Frank, the event was awesome, and you know I'll help on any other event you guys have. Just say the word.
So glad the Protege won an award on its last ride. I'm glad the car ended on a high note.

Oh, I'm sure, that car is SWEET. but, you know most ppl won't take notice of anything that isn't all pretty and new. as long as it was a 2nd vehicle, I'd be all over that car. haha
