i thought i read somewhere on the forum that the mp3's can use the twm short shifter for the reg protege and that was a better choice since the threads would be more common. anyone else hear this?

of course you can use it (the ONLY difference is the thread pitch), but you'll need a new knob. I personally love the stock knob so I used the MP3 version of it.

Yes, it's precisely what you stated. The thread pitch is different but everything else is exactly the same. I have the TWM regular protege version because I got a great deal. But also it allows me to use shift knobs from other companies if I so choose.

I also have the twm shifter. I got the one for the MSP, which is the regular protege one. I bought a MSP shift knob also because my old one had some wear on it. Bolts right up and I have had no problem since, have had it for about 2 years.
