Hi guys,

I had an Injen CAI installed a few years ago on my '03 MSP and I noticed that when I go across the foggy Golden Gate Bridge, sometimes the "Check Engine" light goes on and stays on for a few weeks and then goes off. Today, my MSP failed a smog test and upon further inspection, the mechanic said that my temperature sensor was bad. Will I need to take out the CAI and put in the original air filter? Any ideas?

Thanks for your help!

You may have to change it out just to pass smog inspection, but for the most part my temp sensor hangs out in the engine bay.

when i had my injen cai, it didn't have a space for the IAT and mine just hung down. the only thing that made a difference was when i would go on long trips and the weather would be different from one place to the next. it never went completely bad, but it would pull the occasional code.

i was told that i should have a hole drilled in the intake tubing to hold the sensor to keep that from happening again. your sensor could be completely bad, but i don't think that it is bad because of the intake.

Hey guys,

Thanks for your responses. The mechanics replaced the air temperature sensor and the car passed its smog test. But later in the day, the CEL came on the scanner code was P2006 which indicated "Intake manifold--runner control stuck closed bank 1". The mechanic turned CEL off and told me to drive it and see if the light came back on.

Any ideas?

Thanks again!
