So I have some piston slap in one of my cylinders so I'm going to be rebuilding the bottom end with forged parts. The car ran without oil for maybe a quarter mile....YES I had oil in it and I'm not an idiot. Something happened which took all the oil into the motor and burned it all up. SO...

Im going to get a new turbo with this setup and I'm wondering what is my best bet for reliability and power....my bottom end will be all forged pistons and rods.

gt28rs?!?!?!?

any info is greatly appreciated.

I will also want to run a custom manifold so I can use an external wastegate. I will be having a manifold made at my buddies shop because the guy that makes manifolds for his shop used to work for FULL RACE. SO....when that is complete I will be able to post pics and show the mazda world what it looks like and see if anyone is interested in purchasing one after. They said if there were interested people they would make more than just one.

So to run an external wastegate will I have to relocate my maf or anything?!?! any info is greatly appreciated. Thanks much guys.

Sorry if this post is somewhat against forum rules...i'm still new to this whole mazda thing so if it needs to be moved just post i guess.

if you are upgrading this much, i reccomend relocating maf to cold pipe, as for turbo..i am pretty happy with my 2871, what compression are you planning on running?

I was going to ask the same question about piston compression and also what is your horsepower goal?

My motor is being built with JE 9.0:1 compression pistons and the car will be daily driven. Like dstmsp03 said the GT2871 is a very good turbo and can easily do 300whp.

Ditch the MAF and go full standalone if you can afford it;)

yeah i was going to get the 9.0:1 wiseco piston set probably... and as for standalone, how much wiring would i have to redo, i already run split second and what not. we'll see, i'll probably just move it to the cold pipe. it would have to be set before my hks right?
