Can someone please point out a write up or installation guide for the HKS SSQV? Bought the kit from SU.com....I can't seem to find a decent write up anywhere.......I get the general idea I just want to make sure i'm doing it right.
Any and all help is appriciated! I want to try and install it by tonight.
Thanks!
Really... just place the tubes where they fit..... really can't go wrong. The only hard annoying part was getting the damn thing into the flange adapter. 2 bolts, and reconnect tubes.

Yeah.... I just got done installing it.
Me and my buddy did it in less than an hour.
The C-ring wasn't even an issue, lol. And no clearance issues so i'm happy :D
At first I ran it in recirc. But then VTA cause it was tempting...lol. So i'll keep it there. Next comes the AEM CAI!

+1 on that. its gonna backfire like crazy, idle super rough, and stutter a bit as well..

So I've noticed. Eventually it will be tuned to run better with VTA.

Majorly disagree, sorry:
Unless you can a recirculation block off cap as well. Just got my hks ssq, running vta and it idles like stock. Can't even tell. I think the cap is like $10 from SU or PG. Go get one. Never attempt vta without one. GReddy valves still ran badly, but hks is the way to go (rei)

I agree. The only thing i've noticed so far is the occasional backfire. ^_^.
Im ordering my CAI in a couple days. So to be a thread hi-jacker, but what do you guys reccomend the most? Even though i could use the search function, and current reccomendations? ty!

if you have the hks the car will run fine in VTA. Cant say that for any other bov though.

Oh and -1 for installing a BOV in the middle of the night....didn't have a recirculation hose cap....So i improvised and but a chair leg stopper over it and zip tied it =]. Sticks out if you're looking for it but it works great so far, made of thick rubber.

Mounting the flange to the HKS was a PITA. I must of tried for an hour cusing the whole time. Eventually had to get my dad to help me.

Yeah, I installed with a buddy. Best decision that i've ever made lol.
Btw Quick 6, you're car is gorgeous. I'm trying to find the time to get mine as hawt, or more importantly the money. You love your speed6 so far? worth all the time and money?
I'm leaning more towards an evo =[ just being honest....

Yea I love it since its different and the only one around that is modified. There is a guy about an hour from me that is much more modified than I am though. The car can be a pain sometimes though. Sometimes I wish I had went with a brand new speed3 but the awd is a very nice pro of having the 6. I plan on buying the AP from a guy selling his. I hope it wakes this car up especially the top end. I had a Dodge Durango hemi walk me from a race from a 15-60. I dont usually race but the extra power is nice when its needed.
Speaking of evos I had a kid in one today stop and just stare at my car when I drove by. He must of been wondering what I was driving :)

lol. Yeah...I defiantly love my speed 6, no doubt. But monday I have to take it into the shop because of a random power steering fluid leak? kinda crazy that stuff never usually leaks unless I ran it into something without noticing, lol.
But yeah, i get a bonus check here pretty soon so I will be adding a Cobb AP. I've been driving mi madre's 2007 Chevy Malibu SS. I miss my MS6 =[.

No, there are many that have much more than what you have including myself. Go make the time to have it road tuned or dyno tuned.
Search button is your friend.

This thread has officially been hijacked...i'm looking at ATP turbo setups for my MS6. I want to get one, and possibly very soon. I want to be able to eat up my friends probe by this summer...you may laugh when I say probe, but he's setting up a t3/t4 turbo on his 2.2 liter '89 probe. Redamndiculous.
He just got his forged pistons in and his cars' completely apart.
So in the next month I need fast, and fast =].

Haha, ya those old probe turbos are crazy sleepers, i had a buddy with one with a t3/t4 setup with no tuning done and he smoked my 300+hp AWD DSM like it was standing still, they may be ugly but they are definitly fast, but only because they have a mazda engine under that junk ford shell!

Funny i also had a leaky power steering and had to have the dealership fix it. so if you get the recirc cap you can run the hks in vta cause i would LOVE to run mine in VTA but i dont want to have the car run like ass either

yeah I also lost my key so I just ordered one from eBay...damnit.
And yeah if you get the recirc cap the most problems that i've seen are an unsteady idle, which i don't even notice. And a couple backfries every now and then. But the whhhooosshhhh when you drive by an Evo is wayyy worth it ;)

HHHHMMMM how is the shifting when you run vta? I heard that shifting becomes rough because your rpms drop quicker

the car does run richer venting open, this is true. there are tuning solutions which work around this.

well i went ahead and ran the hks in vta and capped the recirc and my idle is fine and i do get a backfire here and there but not as much as i thought it would. Also i've noticed that shifting from 3-4 has become a bit harder dont know if it's the blow off valve or it's just me. I do think it is well worth it for the awesome sound you get from it in vta. i mean what is an hks without the whistle?

Installing a BOV is not a good idea, do any of you guys know what that is doing to your car besides it sounds cool?
You are venting metered air, this is a big problem.
Let me explain a little...
The MAF meters the air coming in sends that voltage to the ECU so the ECU can make the nessecary fuel trims. The stock turbo system reintroduces metered air into the system post-maf avoiding metering the same air twice. Basically it recirculates it. If you are putting a BOV on your car you are blowing that metered air out the system before it gets in the motor and thus making the mixture way rich. It is really an uncontrollable situation that cannot be tuned out, only a bandaid tune. You would have to use a blow-thru type MAF to measure the air post-bov to run a bov. Since the MS6 uses a draw-thru type MAF installing a BOV onto the car is not a good idea, installing a bypass valve is the only option.
Just FYI.

Seems to not be the only option considering many have installed it that way.
I believe your advice but i'll stick with it until i see any major problems.
