How long has the Corksport short ram air intake for the MS6 been available? Ive been waiting forever to get a sri for my ms6 and now I finally ordered the Cobb beings it available. Now I get looking around at the corksport website and they have a SRI available for the MS6. Wish I would have seen that a couple months ago.

Sweet. Well if the Cobb SRI doesn't ship on Tuesday than I know I have other options.

It's not just the intake, it also replaces the stock turbo inlet pipe. Christmas has come early for me (friday).

Think the SRI is better than the CAI? just wondering as I am running stock right now and looking to start the mod process

SRI vs. CAI is a long heated battle. CAI can give more power because it is pulling in colder air from outside the engine compartment whereas SRI take the air around the engine that is warmer. However, SRI have less of a chance of sucking up water if you drive through puddles.

In terms of power, a CAI might get you 15-20 whp, whereas a SRI may get you 10-15 so its all up to you.

I just got a Cobb SRI for 185. yea its titties. Check my thread under Forced Induction. Got some pictures of the install. I really like it so far. Extremely loud though... way louder than what I anticipated!

For $240, it's a good deal. It comes with a turbo inlet. And if you want more cooling power, that's why you get an FMIC.

i wanna know if they got the maf housing size correct. it says the pipe od is 2.25 inch and the maf is 68 mm. which is 2.68 inch. does this seem right.

ive never seen these whp numbers in real world with just intake...
can anyone substantiate these whp numbers outside of manufacturers claims..
if this is indeed the case for the speed6... nice

If the MS6's airbox is as restrictive as the MS3's, then this is most likely true.

Some cars, like the Protege5, see little or no benefit from an intake as they have a pretty good factory airbox.

those numbers could be possible with a full exhaust. breather mods typically compliment other breather mods.

i've noticed with other cars if you have full intake then do a full exhaust seems the exhaust made more power. or start with a full exhaust then do intake and it seems the intake made more power.

basically i've learned that lack of one somewhat affects the other.

either way it seems the corksport will only fit the stock turbo inlet. since all the other TIP's have a reducer coupler to the turbo inlet. this one just has a straight coupler.
and iirc, the stock turbo inlet is 2.25"

I'm betting that most of the gains come from the inlet pipe instead of the intake itself.

Is the stock inlet pipe really designed that poorly?

I'm not going to claim to be a turbo expert, but if I were to design an air duct system for a building with all the same flaws present in the stock inlet pipe I would probably be chased right out of my career. Weather large or small scale you want to keep your air paths as consistent and straight as possible. Drastic bends and unnecessary flat spots only cause turbulence and a wasteful increase in static pressure which in a turbo setup robs you of potential HP.

i beleive that the upgrade in diameter (from the corksport or aftermarket) inlet pipe has not to do with hp, but with smoother/ more audible turbo feedback.

as for anyone wondering about intake hp increased, its noticible/visible on a dyno at top end only (most intakes for the DISI2.3Turbo in general grant avg whp increases of 10+, it obviously enhances turbo noise, throttle response, intake noise, and increases the redline by 100rpm each bolt on gradually increases this until its fixed from a tune or new turbo. also i've heard a +1 in MPG from everyone who has one.

I think i will get the cobb, the corksport comes to 300 with shipping and tax, and im all about the 185 free shipping and 99$ group buy inlet (larger/black) i seen on here.

corksport contacted me and said its available. though its not in the speed 6 section at protege garage. might just pull the trigger on this yet.

anyone get the corksport intake and inlet pipe yet?

If this TIP (Turbo inlet pipe) is the same that comes in the CS MS6 Intercooler kit, I have one liying around.

Anyone interested?

Anyone heard anything about a FULL length CAI...I've never really been a fan of SRI (Weird personal preference I guess) But if this is the cheapest way to scoop both an intake AND TIP...I'm probably gonna hit up PG and order one now. Lemme know. Thanks guys.

Ya, its called buying a CAI and a separate turbo inlet pipe. Want cheap? Buy darkstar motorsports inlet pipe and a Fujita CAI.

Well, you can take the advice, or leave it. But what I offered is the cheapest CAI with a TIP. Save a few more buck and buy used. Used Fujitas go for 115 bucks, so your looking at 200 for the set.
