I only want answers form serious modders, that have good knolege and expeirince.
Ill start off with my current mods: Fmic, Vibrant 3inchJpipe back, PG im, all motor mounts, cai.
Parts that are being bought and are going in:
Thunder exhaust manifold
3 inch downpipe
some sort of ems with a tune.
Now i have to decide which tuebo to upgrade too. keep in mind i am on stock internals. Next year i am going to get rods and pistons, as well as a clutch, flywheel and welded tranny. I do not drive my car hard. I am deciding between gt2871r, or gt3071r. I will be running 6psi tuned.
Whats the main diffrences going to be?
Do you think it is "Safe"?
Any other suggestions or anyhting i missed?

well first off, what are your goals for the car?
even if you weld the lsd, the gears are still a problem at higher hp levels.
if you are looking for around 300, just go with the gt2860rs.
however, why not just wait to upgrade the turbo until you pull the engine to build it? the stock turbo is more than capable of breaking the fisher price rods.

That's exactly what I was gonna say. If you're at 6 psi on stock internals, there's no need for a turbo upgrade.

so keep the stocker, maybe even bump it to 12psi race and 9psi daily with a good tune and all the supporting mods?

With a good tune and supporting mods (mainly forged internals) that sounds very reasonable. On stock internals though, I wouldn't go past 8-9 psi just to be safe.

this is debatable. do a search and there will be tons of people saying you will blow it up, some say it will be fine.
another question you have to ask, how long will it last with the higher boost level?
you also have to factor in how you abuse the car.
at the end of the day, can you afford to rebuild the engine (money and time) if you do happen to blow it up?
i built a junkyard engine while still running around in my car. So if i did blow it up, i would have a new engine to replace it.

I have been running 8-9psi daily on the superstock map on the SS AFC for about 15k miles with no problems. Car runs great

Big Turbo on a Stock Rod car is a No-No.
Just the rods and Turbo at the same time to be safe.

Hey pal you got some good ideas but listen to what people said below. No point in putting on a bigger turbo on the stock block for 3 reasons.
1. Your going to be pulling the motor for a build and can put the bigger turbo on then.
2. The stocker is more then capable for anybodys needs that are on stock rods.
3. Tuning is expensive why would you want to two it twice.

yeah but dude fisher price makes some really hard plastic, those little bats hurt if you get hit with one lol.

After having owned an msp and a good majority of 'bolt-ons' i'd have to say the best first mod for this car should be forged rods. Sure it's not the cheapest, but it's cheaper than having to source a new block, get the maching work done, have all the down-time, then reinstallation. Once I get my hands on another msp....the first thing i'm doing is a motor rebuild/lsd welding.
Then again, there are many others that have pushed the envelope of this motor with pretty good results.
