i'm in the process of hunting down a vac line that is gone???yeah i don't know either. could anyone please help me. in the pic is pasenger side of motor and there is a vac hose port just in behind the oil dip, right at the top of the 1st intake runner. where does that hose goto? please help me i need my car...

Can't see any pic but IIRC, that would that go to VTCS actuator. Is your vtcs removed?

no this vac hose goes in behind the block somewhere i think to the charcoal container maybe....i can't find the damn thing

and that hose would come off the top....this is top left of the intake...looking at the engine from front. right where it connects to the block

See if this pic helps. I see the vtcs hose behind the dipstick right where the block/intake meet & then the hose goes up to the top middle of intake to one of the 2 solenoids-1 green & 1 white. it's the line to the charcaol canister.....where is this elusive beast

that's the catch can....the other hose on it also goes to the charcoal can....

It's under the rear, probably behind the gas tank based on the drawing on page 01-16-8 in the shop manual linked above and repeated below. It's under an insulating cover.

ok so where does the rubber vac hose connect to the metal line at??this is what i'm trying to find so i can hook it back up to the intake mani

I looked at my P5 I don't see a port on the first intake runner. There are some vacuum hose blocks bolted on to the manifold. The only hose to the canister comes from the back port on the catch tank. It's connected to a steel pipe near the firewall. My car is an 02 and has never had any of the hoses removed. You don't say if you have a P5 but I assume you do. Looking at the shop manual on page 01-16-2 is an emission system drawing showing the hose from the catch can to the canister pipe. On page 01-16-6 is a diagram of the evaporative emission control system. It also shows a single pipe/hose from the canister to the catch tank. Can you supply a photo of the port you are asking about? That may help.

Did you look at the diagrams in the link above. From the charcoal canister near the rear of the car one line goes thru an air filter then evap gas check valve close by and the other (metal line) goes thru the firewall near the ecu wiring harness to the catch can then from the catch can to the purge solenoid valve near the throttle body. The other line from the purge solenoid valve runs to a nipple right behind the throttle body.
