i have a 98 626 with an FS-DE engine.

the car runs fine and idles ok despite the broken transmission mount.

car is an automatic and i'm wondering if the broken mount will mess with the stall converter?

it accelerates good and has good power, doesn't miss that i can tell. it's a new FS-ZE engine with FS-DE manifolds. new plugs, fuel filter etc. the only reason i have this motor is my previous one overheated and the importer only had this available.

i may go through and change all the vacuum hoses on the manifold tonight to rule out a leak. i didn't hear anything while i was checking though.

any help appreciated!

Is is a brand new motor, or does it have mileage? If it does, check here (http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showthread.php?t=123723151)...my first thought is EGR. A little more info would help...has it been doing it since you got the engine, is there a CEL, have you ruled out bad gas or another possible issues?

thanks for the reply. i figured it out last night. i had to tear into the dash to replace the CEL bulb with a working one. the light was on as i suspected before but i didn't have a scan tool until last night. got the cam position sensor code. (not sure of the code..didn't really pay attention as i knew what had to be done)

the motor was used but in pristine condition. the head looked immaculate when i pulled the VC. maybe 10k miles if that.

initially when i tried to crank the motor and i didn't have spark, i realized that the jdm motor has a different crank signal plate. swapped that and the car ran and then i was having the stalling issue. after i pulled the code it was a simple fix.

the jdm motor has a different cam gear as well!! the usdm one has 1 "bump" while the jdm one has 1 "bump" in the correct spot and then at 180* there are two more "bumps". this was throwing off the cam position causing the CEL. swapped the cam pulley and the light went off instantly. idles higher and smoother and i went for a test drive and didn't have any issues.
