now i know everyone asks how to get rid of it but thats not what i had in mind. our stock wheels obviously have them and i bought rx-8 wheels off my friend i'm wondering if i'm going to have to dismount the tires to switch the tpms's so my stock ones are in the rx-8 wheels or will it work without switching them?

As long as your friend's wheels came with their own TPMS sensors, your car will pick his sensors up. If he has plain old rubber valve stems with no sensors, then you'll need to put your sensors in the new wheels, which requires at least partial dis-mounting of the tires.

I've been running TPMS sensors from a 07 Mazda 3 for about 600 miles on my winter set up with NO light. I got them off Ebay for $105 shipped.

I have seen that you need to program the new TPMS sensors. how do you do that?

It's in the O/M, but I think turn the key to "run", then "accessory" and let it sit fifteen minutes. Then drive above 16 mph for at least ten minutes. I did all that when my RX-8s went on, but I don't think I needed to. I think the ECU read the sensors right away or never lost contact with 'em.

Thanks for the info.
