I'm in the market for a car right now and I really like the msp. I found one on my local craigslist with some aftermarket already done to it. It's currently set at 10psi and I'm wondering if thats putting additional wear on the engine with the way its set up.

The listing:

I did add some more extras to include the following:
2.5" downpipe thru midpipe with a high flow cat
Injen cold air intake
Nology wire set with colder plugs
10,000K HID kit with HI and LOW beam
Greddy turbo timer
Greddy boost controller now set at 10LB
AEM UEGO wideband sensor
Unichip piggyback ECU

Not Installed Items:
high flow intake manifold
high flow tubular stainless steel exhaust manifold
front mount intercooler

As you can see this car has it all and everywhere i went people would ask me what it was. They loved it and the best part, there are not a lot of them around.

end listing

anyone?

10 psi can be ran safely... just as 8 psi can be ran usafely.. you will get alot of different answers on here about 10psi, but I personally feel it matters more how he treated the car. If you run the shit out of the car all the time at 8 psi it can be harder on the car than if you babied 10psi... He seems to have most of the mods needed to run 10psi, I would just make sure he has taken care of it.

yeah that's pretty much what i thought. but it's craigslist, so I'm sure if i ask him.... he "babied" it.

I think the upgraded IC "that's not installed" would be the deciding factor of 10psi. Bring a 10mm socket to pull one of the coils packs off and a sparkplug socket and check the plugs for shiny specs from detonation! Takes 1min!

asking to see the plugs and even doing a compression test is not out of the question by any means. If he wants to sell the car, and truley has taken care of it... he shouldn't have any problem with it at all

I'd pull out all four plugs to check condition and gap. Lower then 0.028 -0.031 recommended setting might suggest a performance minded/aggressive driver. Compression test it also. Make sure it idles around 750 rpms and the vacuum reads 20-22 hg/in. Smell the oil on the dipstick and observe its color. Open up the radiator cap and look at the color/condition of the coolant. Look inside the exhaust tip for residue. Look at the engine for signs of oil leaks. Same for the turbo. Inspect the hell out of it before you buy it.

If they're on the forums you can check in previous posts or threads that might mention how it was driven.
