Help! Need Winter Tire & Rim Size For 03/MP3

Ok, what is the BEST SIZE winter rim and tire to use on 2003 Mazdaspeed Protege? I have the stock 215/45/17's on it now. Everyone has a different answer. I hear, if you use a 205/55/16 it will rub in the back. Some people say they are using a 185/65/14...Isn't that too small? What are your recommendations or experience with winter. Don't have much time dudes, that white stuff is fast approaching...help please!!!

Are you referring to the MP3? The speed3 wasn't made until 2007.

Works fine for me. 14" wheels are too small for the Mazdaspeed Protege. 15" is as small as you can go. 16" tires can be expensive. 15" tires and wheels are pretty cheap and easy to find.

i went out and bought a nasty set of bridgestone ws60 winter tires last year and they rule in the snow. i got 225/45/17. id just stay with the stock 215/45/r17 and throw a nasty set of winter tires on.

225 wide winter tires?!?!? Might as well through a pair of skis on under there as well. Narrower is better for snow grip.
