The horn on this car is the one thing I'd like to change. (ughdance) You can get aftermarket lights, radios, etc. Can one get a nice dual-note horn somewhere so the car sounds as serious as it looks?

I installed a set of air horns.
Sometimes other people still can't hear.

Just installed a pair of FIAMM Highway Blasters from Advance Auto (bout 16 bucks each). Got a high and low combination. Just have to play around with the position since it's a little cramp inside. Works like a champ and this should keep vehicles straight on their lanes. Aggressive looks now matches the growl(dance). Just in case, location is inside front left facia/bumper. Need to remove front left tire and protective cowling.

I never really realized how wimpy the horn was until after a week I took my GS home. I called the dealership and told them that something wrong, when I arrived, they told me there was nothing wrong....it really sounded that way. (whip)
I was hoping to replace mine too, but would it void any warranty on the electricals?

Any alteration from the original normaly can void a warranty. That was why I patiently waited for my basic to expire. Although changing a horn is not a big job (only one wire for one horn), any short can mess up other components. I disconnected the battery before I did this operation as with any electrical work.(mj)

where is the horn located? looks pretty tight inside, sounds like its buried on the drivers side, but usually they're located in front of the radiator, though I don't see it.

Tapping into factory horn wire for triggering shouldn't void warranty or it can be easily reversed. Besides, the cost of factory horns shouldn't be much.
I didn't shorten the air hose. The long hose gives me about one second of delay time. It gives a two stage effect. A quick tap only activates electric horns. Holding more than one second will activate (louder) air horns.

I was looking for something louder than OEM, but a little more subtle....
Certainly one can get something that works that mimics the sound of a Bimmer's horn(??)

Here's what you want: http://www.bikerhiway.com/stebel-nautilus-compact-motorcycle-air-horn-black-p-74.html
If you go to Stebul.it and look at the products link, you can go to the page for the Nautilus Compact and listen to sound samples. Very similar to BMW and Audi horns.

The horn is on the drivers side, next to the radiator, you're right it's a little tight, but if you remove the drivers side protective plastic in the front part of the drivers side wheel well you should be able to get to it without removing the front tire.....you'll want to raise the front of the car, or drive up on ramps..... I'm getting ready to install fog lamps, so I'll take some pic's of where the horn is once I get in there......

That youtube is really funny! I've always wanted a train horn. Sad part is that it's illegal (in the USA anyway) to have one. I guess you're not allowed to 'impersonate a train.'

Thanks for the help, but when I click the link above, it takes me to a motorcycle-only page. When I try to put www.stebul.it in my browser, it doesn't find anything. (cryhard)

You will be my hero for the pics and tutorial - I've decided to do this mod, but haven't been relishing going in blind.

I bought an electric pump powered air horn. I just did the work from below. Took the old out, added longer wire, bolted in the new horn and hooked up the wires.

Since i was searching for pics for a while on where the horn was located and didnt find any, ive finally changed mine and took some pics to show others where the horn is. I start by showing the fender inner panel that i removed to access the horn. Then i took a shot from under the car to where the horn is but removed with the black horn wire hanging. Then theres a pic of the old horn, and the new ones. i know this is an old post but it might help someone.

I added a second "low tone" horn a while back and now have some pictures.
I feel removing the bumper is critical so you can see what the heck you are doing. No extra wiring, just added a jumper wire from the existing stock horn to the new low tone horn. Many low tone horn kits are out there for specifically this purpose.
Total cost was about 10 bucks plus my time/labor to remove and install.
