i need to start working on suspension and the first place i am looking to do work is the shocks. i am wondering if you can help out by suggesting some good ones. i want to do all 4 at one time which means right now i dont have a lot to spend. any help

Well, here's the thing. I would not recommend to just do shocks, because any performance-oriented shocks are going to have more aggressive damping, and they will basically overpower your springs, your suspension will be heavily overdamped. I don't think you'll be happy.

ok so what do you think i need to do. i am used to muscle cars and this is actually the first 4-cyl i have ever owned

Well you could do springs . . . Cheap / not too hard to install / make your car look nice / handle better

I think many will agree that you should research some springs and shocks. Decide how low a drop you want, how much stiffness you want, and then try to match your desired springs to the struts.
Or...
Buy coilovers, which are like a spring and a strut all in one.
Basically, make sure your setup reflects best practices, do not try to cut corners or save money, it simply does not work. :D

I actually do not own a Mazda 3, hehe, but you cannot go wrong with Tein SS generally.
Use the search to perhaps turn up some info about different setups that people are running! (cool)
