hey i got a 2000 mazda protege and its time to replace my tires on my 17 inch rims and i was just wondering if i can fit 215/45/17 tires on my protege because at this moment i have 215/40/17 and i find that too low profile for my liking and i drive alot on country roads so i could sure use more cusion for my rims so let me know if i can fit 215/45/17 tires thx

215/45 was the stock MSP tire size, they will fit.

and the MSP was lowered. You can go a lot "chushier ' than that if you want. try some 215/50/17

Are you sure i can go this size without any rubbing...

I would go with more like a 205-50-17.

I have 205-55-16 on mine, and its lowered around 1.5 inch, with no rubbing. you have to calculate the tires overall height and compare it to what you have, just makeing the sidewalls thicker for a better ride

What you also need to consider is the offset (et) of your wheels. If your wheels are not the same offset as someone else's you can't be sure if the tire will rub or not. The ride height of your car also matters too, even if it's not lowered no two 8 or 9 year old cars sit exactly the same.
