Front seat removal with air bag

im putting MSP seats in my car and im wondering how long i need to wait between pulling off the battery terminals and unpluging the air bag wire. i was told it could be anywhere between 10 and 60 mins. i was also told to touch the terminals together for about 10 sec. any advice?

i don't know if i'm missing something here but why are you unplugging the airbag to change the seats??? are you doing the steering wheel too?......

What will happen if you don't wait? Do the airbags deploy or something? I'm curious because I will be removing my steering wheel to remove the CC module and I don't need airbags going off in my face.

i have been told to wait b/c there still is a charge in the air bag module even after you unplug the battery. a friend of mine told me to wait 10 minutes because thats what he did when he took off his steering wheel. i may call mazda to double-check with them unless somebody knows something here. thanks

Disconnect battery, unplug wire. The airbag won't go off unless it gets the proper voltage. Unplugging the airbag isn't going to trigger it.
