Toyota has developed a world first rear-window curtain shield airbag designed to protect the heads of back seat passengers in the event of a rear-end collision.

Destined for inclusion in the iQ ultra-compact four-seater due on the market next year, the curtain-like airbag deploys from the roof lining above the rear window and surrounds the headrests to provide "approximately double the car’s rear passenger head protection performance" according to the company's press release.

They still need the crotch bag. Men are still vulnerable to errant keys and wayward stalks in the event of a collison.

Hehe, would you want an air bag to explode and shoot out towards your nuts? That would hurt... =)

Those are old news (lol2)

Just because they call it a crotch rocket doesn’t mean that your special places have to take a beating when you go for a ride. Riding a motorcycle or a – ahem – high-powered scooter is inherently more dangerous than being enclosed in a car, but now Yamaha has taken a substantial step in making your weekend rip up the mountain a little more safe with the Yamaha ASV-3, complete with a multi-chambered airbag.

The airbag fits in between your legs and is housed underneath the seat. In the instance of a high-speed collision, the airbag deploys, hopefully preventing you from launching forward out of your seat and onto the asphalt.

This isn’t the first time that an airbag has been integrated into a motorcycle, but this is the first time that they have designed it in such a way as to ensure that you’ll still be able to have children in the future.
