So I just finished the rebuild on my 02 2.0L motor in my protege ES, and started it up and it ran fine for about a half and hour and I shut it down. Started it back up again and ran it for a half an hour and it ran completely fine again. That was yesterday. I went to start it today and its def having some trouble starting and once it starts it runs fine then abot a min after I start it when normally it would drop to about 700 rpm's its starting to putter and then stalls. When its idles at 1000 rpm's it seems to run fine but everytime it goes down below a 1000 it starts to stall. Please help, not sure what the hell could be wrong. Thanks

Vac leak at the intake mani? Spray some carb cleaner around there.

Sounds like vac leak to me too... I know it is a pain, but double and tripple check all your lines and connections... stock lines are notorious for cracking etc and sometimes hard to see. Replace with silicone lines if you can to eliminate any vac issues.

As far as the crab cleaner idea, where exactly around the intake manifold do I need spray?

Everywhere that there is a hose leading to the intake.
if you hear the rpms change, you found the source.
