Really dont like when people take off the front grill in front of the intercooler, just my preference.
Everything else looks great though! extremely tasty mods!

it definitely spools faster, but it isn't one of those "bang for the buck mods." since i've basically already cleared up most of the major restrictions in this car i figured what the hell.

To each their own, I disagree and LOVE the front grill removal with a fmic. About to get my fmic btw and wondering how easily your fins get bent? I realize that over a few years I might need to swap out if it gets too bad but I really love the look

the fins do bend pretty easy, but if you think about it that grill isn't going to protect it from anything, not water, not rocks, not dirt, not weeds. i think it looks sick without it, so ill probably leave it that way for a while. but yeah, after a few years i would imagine that they would be pretty bad. what kind of fmic are you going to get?

Mazda3mods is making their own kit. Right now we are getting in on a group buy. With shipping it's gonna cost $772 per person right now. All 2.5" pipe, mandrel bends, stock bpv flange that can be recirculated, high temp painted, hell, they will even send it out for powdercoating for extra. Link will be in my sig until I get it and install it. Comprable to the exhaust depot kit I guess.
That grill is part of the bumper though right? If I cut it out, I can't just go to mazda, buy a new grill, and screw it down can I?

I do now. The car looks very nice!

Best way to fix bent fins on a FMIC is to use a fin straightening comb tool. I keep one in my work tools since I end up messing with chilled water climate coils fairly often. They're only about $10 for a decent one and do a great job. Most HVAC supply houses/tool stores should have them in stock. Certainly is a cheaper alternative than replacing an IC for bent fins.

I have you thought of painting your IC flat black? (with special paint of course) I did that with my black SRT and it looked killer.

well the grille is just part of the entire bumper, which comes off surprisingly easy. it would be impossible to take the honeycomb out with the bumper on the car, so when you install your fmic and the bumpers on the ground it comes right out, and you can always put it back. ill take some more pictures tomorrow if i get a chance, those are pretty bad.

That is fantastic news!! I thought people were using a hacksaw or something and just cutting it out.
I can try it, and if I don't like it, put it back! Yes!
