I sprung a leak on the way home form work tonight. Nothing major, no overheating or complete loss of coolant. I smelled it and saw the steam before a catasprophe could happen. So i pull in to the local pep boys parking lot and spot a worn hose with a steady coolant stream. it loks like it popped out its clip and fell down into the fan and got worn through.

So long story short , and $ 5.28 later. I fixed it with 2 spring clamps and a 3/8 " vaccum union.

This is a common failure, be sure to zip tie the new hose into position to keep it from falling out of the clip again.

This happened to my car when it was still fairly new.

I'm having a hard time determining which hose that is, so I can go check my car and make sure everything is a-ok. Gotta better pic for the rest of us to be able to check our cars?

it is held in place above the radiator by plastic clips.

Thanks for the pics & warning... just got my '09 MS3 last night. By tomorrow, I'll grab a nice black zip-tie & take care of this. Nothing like a little prevention...

Seems to be all good, except for the coolant smell from the residue everywhere.

I had a big problem with the service provided by mazda in regards to this. It is NEVER acceptable to leave coolant residue all over the engine bay after a repair. Yet they do it consistently. I had to take mine home and thoroughly clean the engine compartment to get rid of it. Shit was EVERYWHERE under there.

Any pics or a guide on how to find this and zip tie it? I don't want my baby spraying herself! (sick)
