I drove 3 different 2009 Mazda 6 Touring Sedans all equipped with 4-cyl and 5 speed automatics. All had this roughness, a vibration just off of idle until around 1,000 rpm (when the engine became as smooth as silk) while moving out. Any idea what is going on? Anyone else experienced this? I have never driven a modern 4-cylinder with this roughness from 700 to 1,000 rpm. It was clearly an issue with the engine.
I would buy the car today if it was not for this one issue.(burnout) Thanks for any replies.

did they only do it with the A/C on? or was it a constant vibration? also, something like that will typically "break-in" over a period of time as the motor mount wears itself down. i wouldn't use that as a reason to not buy a car.

The AC was off.
How long does it take to go away?

6 speed manual has no vibration. A few bumps in the road are felt now that I have 17 in rims instead of the original 16

This is the first 4 cyl I've had as a daily driver, and no engine vibrations on my 6
But if you're driving in heavy wet snow, followed by a freeze, get ready for some vibrations if any ice freezes up in your wheels.
Had a pretty obvious vibration out on the highway today when I got over 90 km/h (drove for 3 hours in a nasty snowstorm the afternoon before). Gave the dealer a call - service manager said just a few ounces of frozen ice in one spot on the inside of the alloy wheels can send you a shakin!
At any rate, quick spin through a touchless wash, and no more vibrations!
