So we were in Chicago on vacation and our alternator went (go figure). I had it replaced, and from the first drive I noticed that the idle was rough and that the rpm's would drop and come back up.

This has been off and on for a month now, but the other day it got really bad. The engine light turned on, and the rpm will go down into the 500 - 600 range at idle. If I let it idle, or press the gas so that rpm goes to 1500 or 2000 the dash and headlights all have a flicker in them.

I checked for loose connections, and vacuum leakes but only found the cruise control actuator unplugged. I am at a loss, any idea's??!

They probably pulled the intake mani off to get to it so I would think a vac leak at the head. Spray some carb cleaner around with it idling and the rpms will raise if you find it.

I figured it out from another thread on here, it was the intake idle valve under the intake. I took it off and the valve wasn't sliding very well at all. Oiled it up and it was then working as new. No more issues..... for now.
