View Full Version : Do you use this MOD? What to do next?

So...I've owned the MSP for 105,000 miles now. And just this summer with the addition of a fmic and tbe the car is a rocket.
My question is: What next? What do you guys have and USE and RECOMEND?
I'm kind of stuck right now on what to do next. I'm thinking about some of the following...-
1. Air/Fuel gauge (WIDEBAND)
2. Racing seat (s)
3. rims (I worship the stock rims, but I've rolled on them for 5 years now???)
4. lowing springs (I drive in the snow so I'm concerned about lowering)
5. AXR clunk fix
6. turbo manifold (expensive...)
7. something else?
I've got the normal: cai, exhst, fmic, unichip, boost gauge, motor mounsts, trans mount/bushings, cf grill, fogs, stereo. I drag the car and have road raced it, but its generally a daily driver.
So seriously do you use and recomend any of these?

last time i checked the car didnt come with a stock Boost gauge, CF grill, Fogs
Id go with a A/F controler next. check PG for the SS AFC

I would go with an AFC. The intake manifold sounds good too. If you want to spit out the big bucks you could drop in a GT28RS turbo.

I've got the Unichip, so my A/F ratios are excellent (they have been tested at 10+psi). I'm not sure if a a/f controller would be compatible.
Upgraded turbo!!! sounds good, but I'm kinda scared to go boom...:)
Keep 'em coming, thanx guys!

Start building a spare motor? WB, Coilovers and Rims would be what I did next if I was you.

Start building a spare motor?
you know, I never thought of that. I might start collecting forged parts from the f/s forums. pistons/rods/block/yada yada, you see them come up from time to time for pretty cheap...maybe that is what I should do next.

Its easier to do that way. Then once its built you don't have to worry like crazy about it cause if the one in the car goes you just have to swap it.

end result would be nice too.

well I'm going to dyno on the 18th...see where I'm at. Also going to the drag strip next month too. Then winter comes in MN pretty quick, so I'm kinda wondering what parts to buy over the winter and install/store for next "season".

That's never come on my radar. I know NOTHING about it actually...guess I'll have to check it out. Good idea.

get a wideband and an exhaust manifold, expensive yet but the wideband is well worth it and so is the exhaust manifold

how about a new LSD? Its only a matter of time if you race, along with start a spare block build.

If you do any clutch work, remove and weld your stock LSD housing. It's more than enough after that.
I can send you some info I have scanned about Meth inj if you want to PM me an email address. I have a kit that I have not installed yet as I was waiting on my FMIC. I am running Meth as a safety feature more than a power additive. But it will allow me to run it higher, safer. That is the power benifit.

About dropping in a GT28RS, you have most of the supporting mods except forged internals and possibly a new exhaust manifold. If you got the turbo and forged rods and pistons it would be a $2,000 project, if you are doing it all yourself.

what about the 626 mani or other intake mani?
Stock rims are heavy, get lighter ones
You can run a GT28RS with lower boost and still not blow the motor and still make more power then the T25.
Forge that bitch!!!

626 mani will do you some good

626 manifold is out. From what I understand the unichip doesn't like it at all.
I think that the disco potatoe would go in with a forged engine only for me. I'll have to f/s watch for arias/pauter rods/pistons, usually people are trying to sell them for close to half original price.
I guess I'll have to wiegh the next purchase on show vs. go. I really like the way the car goes right now, ya know...It's taken a looong time to get my car to really have some grunt and it feels good the way it is for now. But to me it's hard to spend a lot of money on "show" parts: rims, seats, etc. Two guys in town have put Caribou seats in their msp's and they are the most cumfy, wonderful seats ever. I want that! But how much do I want to spend on seats...
What do you think of WHITE rims on a blue car?
