Hi, all
Just got back from an oil change. The report is that oil pan is rusted and I have to replace it. Should I splurge $314 on AWR oil pan (it is only my daily driver) or should I get a 59.99 replacement ? Give me your input. Thanks
P.S.
That AWR oil pan looks cool.

(notcool)save your pennies! that's a lot of pan for a daily driver! don't get me wrong, it's a great pan....but you don't need it...and who's gonna see it anyway?

For someone who doesn't know....what would the difference be between the two?
Mine's pretty rusty (as are a lot of things under my car). Dunno if it is in such a state that it'll need immediate attention, but just being curious what I'd be getting into if it does need replacing.

If you like to slide sideways pegging the rev limiter get the AWR! Keeps the pick-up submerged and helps with oil starvation that caused spun bearings and blown motors.

(iagree) as he says, it really for someone who is either auto-xing, or just plain crazy on the corners all day with your oil splashing silly in the pan

Found a pic of this AWR oil pan. Doesn't look like something I'd need for a trip to the grocery store. ;)
Though my question was more about replacing the oil pan. After looking up prices, both aftermarket and dealer (I checked that Montgomery Mazda link) seem pretty inexpensive. But what about labour?

It's like 12 bolts easily accessed from under the car after draing the oil. Shave the old silicone off with a razor blade and run a bead on the new pan and bolt it up 30min! Check for leaks!
You might have to unbolt part of the exhaust to get to a few bolts and also some loctite blue threadlocker wouldn't be a bad idea too!

Thanks for the quick response. Nice to know it is easy to get at.
I'd be getting this done at the dealer, so I'll rely on them to get it right.
